Early Saturday afternoon. Not particularly busy, but ticking over nicely, and I took the opportunity to have one of their very good value sandwiches with my pint.

Dark Star - Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried

Sat in the corner on the PC entering visits. Not surprising really that this pub's entry on PubsandBeer is one of the most visited websites on the PC. Decent smattering of locals and a good beer line up, mostly Hogs Back beers.
Hogs Back - A over T | 9.00 | | Gorgeous, oh what delicious fruits. OK, it's £4 a pint but it is heaven. One of the best beers I've had in a long time. The rich strawberry and raspberry and cherry is simply sublime. Oh man, that is just wonderful. |
Goacher's - Gold Star | 5.10 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried | Just lacks a little condition. Decent hops, but just lacks a bit of carbonation. Big head mind. I won't rate it as it was the last beer out of the barrel, it went off soon after I had it. Replaced by Dark Star Best |
Hogs Back - Hop Garden Gold | 4.40 | Not Tried | Now called HOP |
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
Hogs Back - HBB | 3.70 | Not Tried

Hogs Back - A over T | 9.00 | Not Tried | Too strong to try and still £4/pint ! |

2100 and a good crowd and some old lags still standing after the early afternoon "meet the brewer" event!
Hogs Back - A over T | 9.00 | | Saved the best until last! A not overly sweet barley wine that went down well. Due to our archaic UK duty system, this ale was sold at £4 per pint? But my half was spot on! |
Hogs Back - England's Glory | 4.30 | | Another A1 session bitter. |
Hogs Back - Hop Garden Gold | 4.40 | | Good session bitter. |
Hogs Back - Spring Ale | 4.00 | | Another very quaffable pale ale. |
Hogs Back - Tongham TEA (previously T.E.A.) | 4.20 | Not Tried
Hogs Back - HBB | 3.70 | Not Tried | The "meet the brewer", being Hogs Back, meant the incredible sight of all six pumps deidcated to....Hogs Back. A rare sight in Maidstone if ever there was one! |
16 Apr 2010 (Alenomore)
Fairly busy at 2130 and a good classic rock covers band, Morten, were in full swing.
Goacher's - Gold Star | 5.10 | | Always save the best for last! |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | In top condition. |
Elgood's - Cambridge Bitter | 3.80 | | A nice ale, in top condition. |

Brilliant pub, friendly staff, 6 beers on, and a computer in the corner for me to rate on. Lovely.
Dark Star - Sussex Extra Stout | 4.50 | | I was extolling the virtues of this last night over Guiness, then it goes and lets me down by being not in the best of condition. Still the roasted malts are excellent. |
Goacher's - Gold Star | 5.10 | Not Tried
Phoenix - Arizona | 4.10 | Not Tried
Phoenix - Thirsty Moon | 4.60 | Not Tried | Barmaid gave me a sample as it came on, touch of diacetyl I thought. |
