Quickly got busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Orkney (Sinclair) - 3 Sisters Scottish Ale (Atlas range)4.20AcceptableMid-brown slightly malty, slightly hoppy ale. Nothing too demanding in a GK sort of way.
Deeside - Beltane4.00AcceptableAnother light golden ale. Slightly sweet. Little in the way of hops but a metallic hint - maybe the use Saaz? Strange to see a Spring seasonal in November.
Inveralmond - Moorings Ale4.20Not Tried

Busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Vital Spark4.40GoodVery dark almost black beer with surprising burst of autumn fruits in the mouth. Short satisfying finish.

Busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
BrewDog - 5AM Saint5.00ExcellentWell this time I really enjoyed it. Resinous hops, full malt and intense fruity finish. Later beers seemed tame by comparison.

Busy late evening. Apparently they'd been presented with CAMRA's town Pub of the Year earlier. Well merited but it would be even better if the Moorings reduced its reliance on ales from Strathaven, Houston, Orkney and Inveralmond. There are lots of other fine Scottish breweries.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burnside - Wild Rhino4.50ExcellentLight straw colour, shone in the glass. Summer fruit aromas with light citrus flavours and smooth malt. Satisfying finish.

Busy but, as none of the ales really appealed, we quickly left.

Surprisingly quiet. Guess the students are on vacation.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Island Hopping3.90AcceptablePoured a light straw colour with a loose white head. Initial exciting burst of floral hops on the nose and in the mouth well balanced with a soft maltiness. All spoiled by phenolic hints in the finish.

Busy. Lots of rockers in - would have been a fun night if the ale selection had been better. Houston, Strathaven, Sinclair and Inveralmond seem to make up the core range these days - not bad but there are many more interesting Scottish breweries to choose from.

Mostly regulars in the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Orkney (Sinclair) - Raven Ale3.80PoorFloral aromas carried through to the first taste which became sharper. Thin, almost watery, mouthfeel and dry, astringent finish.

Inveralmond - Moorings Ale4.20Not TriedSpecial for The Moorings. Probably a blend.

The pub is found in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, AB11 5AA.

Rock and metal music bar on Trinity Quay, with friendly staff and customers. Unstinting commitment to real ale - usually five from mostly Scottish micros (often BrewDog) on. Lined glasses used. Excellent selection of keg beers on font and plenty of interesting bottles - think Rodenbach, Cantillon and the like. Real Cider too. One of the best bars in Scotland and probably Britain, The Moorings Bar is an Aberdeen 'must visit'. Renamed in 2015. In March 2020 decided to closed for the duration of the Coronavirus alerts.

We have visited this pub 141 times, seen 157 different beers and tried 91 of them.
