29 Apr 2010 (McGargle)
Busy with regulars early evening.
Fyne - Maverick | 4.20 | | Something missing here. Solid malt body but little in the way of hops. |
Isle of Skye - Avelanche (aka Blaven) | 5.00 | Not Tried
Isle of Skye - Hebridean Gold | 4.30 | Not Tried
15 Apr 2010 (McGargle)
Not fancying a mild and not being a great fan of Strathaven or Atlas beers I opted for draught Budweiser Budvar.
Strathaven - Claverhouse Red Ale | 4.50 | Not Tried
Orkney (Sinclair) - Golden Amber (Atlas range) | 4.50 | Not Tried
Orkney (Sinclair) - Dark Munro | 4.00 | Not Tried
29 Jan 2010 (Ray)
Heavy snow but warm inside.
Deeside - Nechtan | 4.10 | | Clear light gold. Drier, more astringent finish than expected. |
Houston - Peter's Well | 4.20 | Not Tried
Inveralmond - Independence | 3.80 | Not Tried
21 Jan 2010 (Ray)
Quiet. Only 3 hand pumps in use.
Orkney (Sinclair) - Red MacGregor | 4.00 | | Poured ruby-red beer. Floral, fruity aromas with hints of toffee. Juicy biscuit malt taste melded with fruity hops and a long, spicy finish.
|
Inveralmond - Thrappledouser | 4.30 | | Earthy cardboard. |
Deeside - Talorcan | 4.50 | Not Tried
15 Jan 2010 (McGargle)
Fairly quiet. New Year's wish would be for more variety, sourcing ales from throughout the UK. Wouldn't it be great to see Mallinsons, Thornbridge or Dark Star available in Aberdeen? However, being keen to offer exceptional value for money it might be difficult to keep prices. low.
Deeside - Talorcan | 4.50 | | Can't convince myself I like this version. Dominant chocolate - not much room for anything else. Oh, for some subtlety. |
Orkney (Sinclair) - Latitude Pilsner (Atlas range) | 3.60 | Not Tried
Orkney (Sinclair) - Blizzard (Atlas range) | 4.70 | Not Tried
Orkney (Sinclair) - Red MacGregor | 4.00 | Not Tried
Houston - Black & Tan | 4.30 | Not Tried
10 Jan 2010 (McGargle)
Quiet. Sadly, someone had queued the jukebox with Judas Priest.
Deeside - Talorcan | 4.50 | | Completely different to the sample tried on 5th September. Mild lactic taste replaced by rich chocolate and coffee. No longer a strong mild more a porter but still satisfying. |
Houston - Black & Tan | 4.30 | Not Tried
03 Jan 2010 (McGargle)
Quiet but plenty of chat.
Throwing off flu so unfair to rate beers but Brude seemed thin, Winter Solstice was enjoyed full of winter flavours and Cantillon 100% Lambic Gueze was spot on.
Deeside - Brude | 3.50 | Not Tried | See comments above. |
Deeside - Winter Solstice | 6.00 | Not Tried | See comments above. |
27 Dec 2009 (Ray)
Icy streets outside, quiet inside.
Deeside - Winter Solstice | 6.00 | | Strong winter warmer pouring a dark red with long lasting beige head. Well judged bursting with autumn fruits flavours offset by light hops. |
18 Dec 2009 (McGargle)
Busy. Amused by smokers braving the blizzard to feed their addiction.
BrewDog - Equity for Punks | 3.70 | | Pours clear reddish brown with huge hop aromas and fading beige head. Strong fruit and resin flavours leave a hint of imbalance submerged in the strong clean finish. Enjoyable non-session ale. |
12 Dec 2009 (McGargle)
Lively.
Deeside - Macbeth | 4.10 | | Flavours more foreward as beer ages. Still enjoyable. |
Isle of Skye - Red Cuillin | 4.20 | Not Tried
Strathaven - Claverhouse Red Ale | 4.50 | Not Tried
