04 Jun 2013 (HSB)
18:00 Bustling. My usual drinking chums were there and we discussed a new brewpub and bar in Ipswich. Beer choice more restricted tonight after a busy weekend. Lots of beer being delivered this week.
| Fulstow (Fugelestou Ales) - Styrian Blonde | 4.00 | | Does what it says on the tin. Pumpclip features buxom German barmaids. |
| Elgood's - Cambridge Bitter | 3.80 | | Too malty for an English bitter. |
27 May 2013 (HSB)
Bank Holiday Monday lunchtime. Unusually quiet.
| Harwich Town - Phoenix APA | 5.00 | | Tremendous beer. Malt and hops to the fore. |
| Tipple's - Sun Down | 3.90 | | Malty and full of taste. Subtle hop note. |
| Elmtree - Thirst For Victory | 4.00 | | Bit thin for a 4% beer. That said reasonably tasty. |
| Brandon - Rusty Bucket | 4.40 | Not Tried | |
21 May 2013 (HSB)
18:00 visit. Met up with fellow beer enthusiasts and sampled the day's selection of ales.
| Humpty Dumpty - Norfolk Nectar | 4.60 | | I do not normally like honey beers as I find them too sweet, but this one is an exception. |
| Great Heck - Voodoo Mild | 4.30 | | Very flavoursome. |
| Neath - Warbow | 4.50 | | Not a lot of flavour. |
04 May 2013 (HSB)
18-00 to 19:00 Changing of the guard as the afternoon drinkers left and the evening shift came in.
| Tydd Steam - Cock | 4.20 | | Excellent best bitter. |
| Milestone - Olde English Ale | 4.90 | | Bit sweet for me. |
| Box Steam - Steam Porter | 4.40 | | Poor example of a porter, thin and lacking flavour. Surprising given the normal quality of beers from this brewery. |
| Blakemere (see also Northern) - Ginger Hop | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
26 Apr 2013 (HSB)
Early Friday evening, very busy.
| Bank Top - Chancery | 3.90 | | Light and refreshing. Reminiscent of a light and bitter. |
| K&A - Pill Box | 4.00 | | Good balanced bitter. |
| Fulstow (Fugelestou Ales) - Imperial Stout | 4.90 | | Well balanced classic stout, slightly sweet with a roast flavour. |
10 Apr 2013 (HSB)
Post supermarket visit, usual locals.
| Brandon - Gun Flint | 4.20 | | |
| Reedley Hallows - New Laund Dark | 4.40 | | |
27 Mar 2013 (HSB)
Usual locals in.
| Shortts Farm - Skiffle | 4.00 | | |
| Gloucester - Dr Foster's Puddle and Spice | 4.50 | | |
| Box Steam - Golden Bolt | 3.80 | | |
19 Mar 2013 (HSB)
As usual early evening after shopping.
| Forge - Maid in Devon | 4.00 | | |
| Silver Brewhouse (formerly Raw) - Blonde Pale Ale | 3.90 | | |
12 Mar 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Afternoon into evening. Old Bill Barley's (his current pseudonym on here) 60th celebrations made the beer turnover very quick indeed.
| Bartrams - Comrade Bill Bartram's Egalitarian Anti Imperialist Soviet Stout | 6.90 | | |
| Buffy's - Bitter | 3.90 | | |
| Wolf - London Werewolf | 3.70 | | |
| Panther - Ginger Panther | 3.70 | | Refreshing |
| Grain - Oak | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Brandon - Rusty Bucket | 4.40 | Not Tried | Came up too cloudy - bar staff said had unfortunately layered in the cask to exchanged and withdrawn from sale |
12 Mar 2013 (HSB)
My sixtieth birthday drink. The Landlord kindly let me choose the beers. A good time was had by all.
| Bartrams - Comrade Bill Bartram's Egalitarian Anti Imperialist Soviet Stout | 6.40 | | Last beer of the session. A cracking end. |
| Buffy's - Bitter | 3.90 | | |
| Elmtree - Burston's Cuckoo | 3.80 | | Wonderful session beer |
| Grain - Oak | 3.80 | | |
| Panther - Ginger Panther | 3.70 | | Very gingery, a cracking pint but one was enough |
