12 Sep 2012 (McGargle)
I wonder if running cider through the beer lines is having an effect on beer quality??
Rooster's - Yankee | 4.30 | | Cardboard and 'chemicals' - not Roosters at all. |
25 Jul 2012 (McGargle)
Beer choice has dropped off markedly.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Koroibos | 4.50 | | Slightly sweet inoffensive brown beer. |
Yeovil - British Summer Time | 4.50 | | Dull. Why ship it all the way from the SW of England to the NE of Scotland? |
19 Jul 2012 (McGargle)
Cider festival so limited ale choice.
Orkney (Sinclair) - Raven Ale | 3.80 | | Marginal 3*. Too much diacetyle and crystal malt. |
17 Mar 2012 (McGargle)
Very busy. 12 ales on.
Batemans - Nøgne Ø Bitter | 4.50 | | Light and hoppy with more than a hint of Batemen's from the malt. |
10 Jan 2012 (McGargle)
Ticking over early evening.
Adnams - Old Ale | 4.10 | | Bit disappointed here. Low (almost non-existent) hop rate, some autumn fruits but lacking in substance. |
03 Jan 2012 (McGargle)
Pleasant.
WharfeBank - Slingers Gold | 3.90 | | Nondescript, malt dominated bitter. Slightly cloying finish. One was certainly enough. |
21 Dec 2011 (Ray)
Large selection of Xmas beers but nothing light and hoppy.
Palm - Biere De Noel | 5.00 | | Didn't get along with this. No clear direction in the taste - bit of this bit of that etc. Slightly sweet finish. OK but.. |
16 Dec 2011 (McGargle)
Absolutely jammed but, with plenty of staff, service was excellent.
Orkney (Sinclair) - Northern Light (superseded by separate 4% entry) | 3.80
Titanic - Eight Bells | 4.50
30 Nov 2011 (McGargle)
Busy. Good ale choice with old Xmas 'favourites' starting to appear.
Ringwood - Old Thumper (now superseded by 5.1% version - separate entry) | 5.60 | | Strangely anonymous for a strong bitter. |
Brains - SA | 4.20 | Not Tried
Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Red Breast | 4.50 | Not Tried
Greene King - Abbot Reserve | 6.50 | Not Tried
Palm - Biere De Noel | 5.00 | Not Tried
Daleside - Christmas Cracker | 4.50 | Not Tried
13 Nov 2011 (Ray)
Busy. Lot's of people waiting to be disappointed when England won the football.
Harviestoun - Pride of Scotland | 4.50 | | Deep red ale looked great in the glass. Good hoppy aromas from Pioneer carried through to a fruity and spicy taste. Bitter finish. Harviestoun really are brewing some good beers at the moment. |
