Something of a misnomer this was thin in the mouth with strong green apple flavours. Unpleasant dry finish.

From a generous taster the overwhelming impression was of cough medicine. On another day I'll give it a proper tasting.

Well crafted light copper session ale. Hints of caramel with a dry, spicy finish. These notes from Dec. 2009 still apply to this sample. Good, consistent quality from Cairngorm.

Surprised myself with this. Not quite to my taste but biased towards a smooth malt. Smooth and spicy with hints of hops I can see why people like this beer.

Hazy and a little cold there were some citrus notes which didn't match well with the thin malt.

St Austell - Proper Job
4.50
Light golden, well balanced ale. Grapefruit on the nose and light citrus and grassy flavours with lightly kilned barley. Careful use of American hops lead to a smooth moreish finish. If St. Austell can brew a beer this good there's no reason (except ambition0 why the other regionals can't.
The pub is found in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, AB11 5BQ.
Typical Spoon's bank conversion in Castle Street, with typical Spoon's mix of customers but also a manager who knows about real ale and keeps a good variety of beers in good condition. Aberdeen CAMRA Town Pub of the Year 2009.
We have visited this pub 209 times, seen 414 different beers and tried 262 of them.
