31 Oct 2012 (Alenomore)
22:30 visit. Lots of ghoulishly dressed people in tonite and two ales of note found in our second JD.
Freeminer - Deep Shaft Stout | 6.20 | | Much better condition. A full bodied Stout, rich, well hopped, lingering roast malt flavour. Again, they took forever to get a pint up, and it broke my heart as I looked on at the vast amount of this fine ale going to waste. [I even suggested they put a bucket under it, and I'll take it home!] but well worth the wait. Two pints, eventually, devoured...? |
Marston's - Ishii Brewing Minagof Pale Ale | 4.30 | | Again, in top condition. |
Rooster's - Franklin | 4.30 | | Still in good nick, this hoppy golden type. |
Cotleigh - Kookaburra Bitter | 4.40 | | Reading the tasting notes for this festival ale, I was convinced that the condition here tonite was not that good at all. Nothing of note, poor. Took ages for the bar member to pour this pint up. (20-30 pulls!). I'm sure this ale is normally much better than this. And I also pointed out to the [uninterested] staff, a "black speck", alive, possibly drowned, that was clinging to the bottom of my glass? Apologies for all these negatives tonite. A rare event here. |

St Peter's - Fruit Beer Grapefruit | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
30 Oct 2012 (Alenomore)

Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Birra Del Borgo Tutto Fa Brodo | 4.20 | | Good nick. A lot going on. |
Rooster's - Franklin | 4.30 | | A new ale. This was quite hoppy and very good too. |
St Peter's - Fruit Beer Grapefruit | 4.70 | | Still fresh. Amazingly potent initial whiff. This is grapefruit at it's best. Could even be breakfast in a glass? |
