Early evening. This pub has some nice, surviving, turquoise tiles which I had not noticed before, along the former corridor access to the back bar.
Clarence & Fredericks - Cascadian Black | 5.00 | | A really good example of the now-familiar Black IPA style. |
Windsor & Eton - Guardsman | 4.20 | Not Tried

Best pub of the day. I have passed this house hundreds of time on the bus. Recently saw a London Drinker magazine advertisement so gave it a try. Seems if you do not specify you will be served your pint of real in a handled dimple jug. 4 handpumps (1 for cider) plus several cider / perry polypins behind the bar. 2215 hours and good hubbub of conversation. They have their own round and square very attractive beermats.
Windsor & Eton - Conqueror | 5.00 | | Black IPA time. Good for the end of session |
Mauldons - Cuckoo Bitter | 4.30 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
02 Mar 2012 (Stephen Harris)
A nice little beer and cider festival going on here, with plenty of good beers coming through on three handpumps and a stillage cooled by wet towels. A shame I had time only to stay for two pints.
Magic Rock - High Wire | 5.50 | | Intensely-hopped American Pale Ale in the West Coast style. |
Silver Brewhouse (formerly Raw) - Dark Peak Stout | 4.50 | | Good, smooth, dark, bitter stout. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Goddards - Fuggle (or Fuggle Dee-Dum) | 4.80 | Not Tried
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Priory Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried
Ilkley - Lotus IPA (was 5.6%) | 5.50 | Not Tried
Otley - Oxymoron | 5.50 | Not Tried

16 Feb 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Quite busy, good beer and a nice atmosphere. The food looked good, for another day.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Classic, golden hop-juice. |
Adnams - American Style IPA | 4.80 | | Well balanced and quite hoppy – not as hoppy as most in this style. |
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Old Growler | 5.00 | Not Tried
