Evening visit - my first here. Opened on Monday of this week. Pleasantly crowded. Illuminated Guinness Surger unit on bar counter might invalidate it as Micropub status. Warm and airtight and very welcoming. A most welcome addition to Birchington's previously limited real ale market.

Shop conversion pub which opened on 11th March 2013. Larger than recent Micropub openings and sells Guinness Surger with an at the bar ultra-sonic processor. Nautical theming with ship models, ornamental ships' wheels and knots / maps / charts. A shop conversion located in the main shopping street Station Road - most recently Cake Art which was a cake decoration shop and prior to that was a dog parlour. A small bar counter faces the entrance and behind that is a door leading to a temperature controlled stillage room with 6 casks on gravity ready or waiting. Real ales, ciders, red / white / rose wines, canned Guinness Surger and limited spirits on sale including local real ales and ciders. Furnishings consist of 2 long bench seats in the front window, high cask on end tables and high chairs at the front and normal height tables and chairs towards the rear. Several seats at the bar counter. There is a steep flight of stairs at the back leading up to a large non-barred area with further normal height tables and chairs and the toilets.
