2105 to 2155 hours visit. Dribs and drabs of custom but it is in the interregnum between a bank holiday and a Hop Festival!

A reasonable crowd in despite the rainy night.

Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00ExceptionalAbsolutely first rate, top drawer. Best Best I have tasted for a number of years. It was required to have a second one.
Brakspear (at Marston's Wychwood) - Bitter3.40Not TriedReally not sure why anyone sells this and subsequently anyone buys this badge-brew engineered beer when so much else is on the market.
Marston's - Wychwood Hobgoblin IPA (was Ruby Beer, was Hobgoblin)4.50Not Tried

This pub has re-opened after a period of closure, and is in the midst of internal and external renovations. The new landlord intends to keep it very much as a pub with a separated dining area. Something called the Real Ale Advisory Board will be meeting on the second Monday of each month.

Late Saturday lunchtime and I caught the last of teh lunchtime crowd. The pub interior is nice, especially the inglenook fireplace.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Rother Valley - Level Best4.00AcceptableHazy copper with lasting off white head. The landlord pulled off the first pint, so I guess this was a fresh barrel on. Yeast and good fruit salad aroma. Fruit carries on into mouth with moderate intensity and then good biting hop finish. Bit of green apple as probably not ready yet, but the malt underpins the beer. Give it a day and this would be excellent.
