Busy, early evening session. I have lost my notes of the other beers available.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cromarty - Hit The Lip3.80ExcellentGolden/blond, session-strength beer full of juicy, fruity hops.

Thursday evening in the City and the City Boys are out in force. I joined Ted and Dave at the bar to form a little suit-free zone.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burning Sky - Saison l’Autumn4.20ExcellentMy first tasting of this much-heralded new Sussex brewery. Here on key-keg dispense, and beautifully brewery-fresh. Pale and cloudy, a bit spicy and flavoured with foraged rose hips. Classy stuff.
Tiny Rebel - Flux4.00GoodDescribed as a Black Pale Ale. It was certainly black.
Mallinsons - SPA (Special Pale Ale)4.00AcceptableHas the standard Mallinson’s pale and hoppy character; but something not quite right about this pint, and I couldn’t work out if it was the flavour or the condition.

Early evening. Crowded inside and outside too in the street with customers making most of the balmy late October climate.

I came here by bus 17 from Kings Cross through the early evening rush hour. Remind me not to do that again – it was debateable whether it would have been quicker to walk.

Just a very small number of customers, mid-evening on a Monday.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kernel (The Kernel) - Pale Ale – Amarillo Chinook Nugget5.40ExcellentOn key-keg dispense. Golden in colour. Quite a lot of natural carbonation in this one. Satisfyingly hoppy as you would expect from this superb brewery.
Arbor Ales - Motueka3.80GoodAmber in colour. A pretty good, single hop beer with a nice flavour. Personally I’d welcome a little more strength and body in this sort of beer.

The busiest I have seen this pub so far, and it becomes a bit of a noisy and echoey place when full of people – some soft furnishings needed I think.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kernel (The Kernel) - IPA Galaxy HBC 2917.10ExcellentOn keg dispense. As expected from The Kernel, this is a powerful, cloudy, golden beer with strong hop flavours. Initially fruity, it has a long bitter finish.
Hopcraft (experimental side of Pixie Spring) - Redneck4.80GoodDark red in colour. Some sweetish malt, but dominated by powerful hop tastes. I like my hops, but I found this one just a little bit harsh.

Dave R and I have had an enjoyable early evening at the City Beerfest in Guildhall Yard (exchanging “good evenings” with the Lord Mayor Of London, as you do). Dave hasn’t been to the Pelt Trader yet, so we move on for a couple of pints. Quite busy at 8:30, and it is once again permitted to stand outside.

It has been a short honeymoon period for this pub. I’m here in the peak after-work period of 6:15 – 7:15 (admittedly on the quietest day of the working week) and there are never more than six other customers present. Trade needs to be built.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bristol Beer Factory - Independence4.60ExcellentAmber-coloured. Excellent US hop flavours.
Kernel (The Kernel) - Pale Ale - Citra Galaxy5.10ExcellentOn keg dispense. There are three words in this beer’s name which more or less guarantee excellence: ‘Kernel’, ‘Citra’ and ‘Galaxy’. It has a lovely, slightly tart, lemony, citrus flavour. But it has too much carbonation. I thought The Kernel only supplied in key-kegs, but this suggests an older technology in use on this occasion.

The pub is found in City, Central London, EC4N 6AP.

A newly established pub on Dowgate Hill in a large railway arch, deep beneath Cannon Street terminus railway station. Next door, up the hill, to Cannon Bridge House. Opened on 19 June 2013. This pub is sister to the Euston Tap and the Holborn Whippet and has a similar bar, with both cask and keg beers served from taps in the back wall. More spacious than either of the other two mentioned bars. 6 cask taps and 14 keg ones. A canoe hangs from the ceiling. The pub name relates to the fact that the livery hall of the Skinners’ Company is just across the road – and indeed there was once a pub here called the Skinners Arms. Limited food available such as pizzas which may be ordered and are then shipped in by an outside supplier.

We have visited this pub 33 times, seen 109 different beers and tried 53 of them.
