20 Jul 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit. Well-populated by City types. I didn’t stay long as the acoustics are terrible here and it was loud and echoey.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shiny - Pail Ale4.40ExcellentGolden, hoppy and bitter, with Ella and Chinook hops giving a long, bitter finish.

30 Mar 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit. Quite busy, although not a ‘City’ crowd tonight. The home-cooked pizzas are selling well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bristol Beer Factory - Sorachi4.70ExcellentYou can rely on BBF to do the single-hop thing well, and this is full of distinctive Sorachi hops.
Adnams - The Herbalist (collaboration with Magic Rock)4.80ExcellentBrewed at Adnams in collaboration with Magic Rock. Plenty of spicy Saison tastes and flavoured with an eclectic selection of herbs in addition to plenty of hops.

All male clientele. Friendly and enthusiastic staff.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Beavertown - Black Betty7.40ExcellentSolid bodied and well hopped. Then I tried a Kernel Black IPA. This was good, the Kernel better.
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40GoodPale, crisp and fresh. Ideal first beer.
01 Oct 2014 (Stephen Harris)
An unplanned visit to break down some time while the District Line got its act together. Pretty busy in here in the early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Siren Craft - Under Current4.50ExcellentA satisfying, amber-coloured Pale Ale with oatmeal.

31 Jul 2014 (Stephen Harris)
I had need to meet up with a friend after work in the City and we picked this pub as a venue.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kent - KGB or Kent Golding Bitter4.10GoodVery much a traditional English bitter.
Brew By Numbers - 01/04 Saison Ginger & Grapefruit6.00GoodOn key-keg. Tasty, murky, Saison with flavours as expected from the beer’s name.
Bristol Beer Factory - Milk Stout4.50Not Tried
Moor - Nor'Hop4.10Not Tried
Bristol Beer Factory - Nova3.80Not TriedI returned a sour pint and this was immediately taken off sale, with apologies offered and a replacement pint.
21 Jul 2014 (Stephen Harris)
Early to mid-evening. Not too busy and a very interesting beer range tonight. I nearly succumbed to the temptation of a home-made pizza.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Siren Craft - Limoncello IPA9.00ExceptionalOn keg dispense. An opaque amber colour. A brilliant beer with huge flavours. It starts lemony tart, then you get the malt backbone, warming alcohol, then back to lemon again for the finish.
Kent - Elderflower Saison4.50ExcellentA cloudy yellow colour and with a thick mouthfeel. Nice saison. Both spicy and fruity, tart, dry finish.
Bristol Beer Factory - Nova3.80ExcellentA lush, golden, hoppy pint.
Moor - Unfined Confidence4.60AcceptableReddish and cloudy (I think all Moor beers are now unfined?). A bit too ‘red’ for me.
Oakham - Citra4.20Not Tried

Bristol Beer Factory - Ten6.00GoodStrong, amber-coloured IPA. Does not seek to disguise its strength.

03 Mar 2014 (Stephen Harris)
Bustling, loud and echoey on arrival, starting to thin out a bit by 8pm.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ilkley - Pata Negra6.20ExcellentHow did we survive for so long before the invention of Black IPA? This one is heading towards ‘hoppy stout’ territory I think.
Quantum - American Light3.60AcceptableGolden. Very fruity, US hop tastes and a long, bitter aftertaste. This pint seemingly lacking in any malt backbone.
Oakham - Citra4.20Not Tried
Moor - Amoor4.50Not Tried
Moor - Nor'Hop4.10Not Tried

A nice, calm atmosphere in here. City Boys all behaving themselves.

The pub is found in City, Central London, EC4N 6AP.

A newly established pub on Dowgate Hill in a large railway arch, deep beneath Cannon Street terminus railway station. Next door, up the hill, to Cannon Bridge House. Opened on 19 June 2013. This pub is sister to the Euston Tap and the Holborn Whippet and has a similar bar, with both cask and keg beers served from taps in the back wall. More spacious than either of the other two mentioned bars. 6 cask taps and 14 keg ones. A canoe hangs from the ceiling. The pub name relates to the fact that the livery hall of the Skinners’ Company is just across the road – and indeed there was once a pub here called the Skinners Arms. Limited food available such as pizzas which may be ordered and are then shipped in by an outside supplier.

We have visited this pub 33 times, seen 109 different beers and tried 53 of them.
