Popped in mid afternoon to get a drink before heading up the hill in the sun. There were a handfull of people in and I sat in a comfy leather chair and drunk my beer.

Mid Friday evening session. I was surprised at how quite the pub was which, on one hand was good because we easily got a seat and on the other hand was bad because it's a good pub. Charlie and I sat in a snug for a few hours and left to find chips.
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | Quite hoppy with some underlying malt |
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale) | 4.20 | | Darker and more earthy than the Master Brew |
Shepherd Neame - Kent's Best | 4.10 | | Had that cobb nut taste to it that makes it stand out from the other beers in the Shep's stable. |
Shepherd Neame - Early Bird | 4.30 | | Some lemony hops. Quite drinkable but perhaps getting to the end of the barrel. |

It was mid afternoon and I fancied a drink. I like this pub and it always seems to have on whatever specialseasonal Sheps have got on at the moment.
Shepherd Neame - Early Bird | 4.30 | | Not quite what I remembered it to taste like but excellent none the less. Candy and rose petals (see what I mean) with a good, though short lived, hop finish |

I was passing so felt it prudent to pop in. There were a few people in and a few on the street outside trying to have a smoke whilst being buffeted by a bracing wind. Good pub this.

Corner pub with a feel of an old Victorian pub. Good interior and nice old wooden bar. It had a good community feel to it too.
Shepherd Neame - Hop Festival | 4.50 | | Gold colour with lasting off white head which is bubbly. Slight hop aroma. OK in mouth. Some biting citrus hop. Some astringency on end. Yeah, it’s pretty hoppy for a Sheps beer. Fine. Still a bit sweet. But hop on end is good. Decent intense flavours. I think this was another of their news brews tested out on their new micro kit.

Busy lunchtime session as the Rugby World Cup was on. Here with Ian, Martin and Jane.

Since my new shoes were killing me I thought it best to have a pint. It was busy with lunch time drinkers but Jane and I got a comfy seat anyway. I was impressed that the person behind the bar automatically topped my pint up without me having to ask. I like this pub.
