Another Saturday, another trip to the Bay. Chelsea where playing Coventry on the TV and a good number of people were in watching. Sheps are holding a beer festival at the moment and according to the literature in the pub this consisted of JHB, Elgoods Black Dog and Woodford's Nelson's Revenge. There's something a bit odd with going into a Shep's pub and seeing other beers. It's good really but I just felt it wouldn't be right not to have Masterbrew (although I'd have had Early Bird if it were on). I like this pub. The interior is outstanding.

Always a nice atmosphere in this pub, trouble is you just can't avoid watching the damn telly. Had a pint of Bishops Finger, actually very nice indeed, but shocked by the £3.30 price tag.

It was nice weather so we walked into Herne Bay. On the way we passed a group of people who'd gathered to watch a dog go to sleep. Doesn't take much to entertain people in these parts. When we got to the town Jane and Isabel went off to do some light shopping giving me 15 minutes for a swift pint. The pub was quite busy with people watching Everton vs WBA. I sat in a corner on one of the sofas and minded my own business.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70GoodExcellent condition. Zingy with good bitterness and a hint of caramel. A nice pint of probably Shep's best regular beer.

Certain pub not open on Mondays so popped in for a quick one. Tried the much maligned Masterbrew and although it really does not have much about it,found it acceptable. However, having said that not sure I would want a session on it.

I was in town and had 15 minutes whilst Jane went shopping with Isabel. The pub had a few regulars in who were sitting around the bar waiting for the rugby to come on. I sat on one of the leather sofas and relaxed. There's a lot to be said for a pint of beer in a pub on a Saturday afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70GoodGood condition to the pint. Hoppy with a faint hint of orange and caramel. Bit of cardboard to it too. A good pint of a reasonably good session beer.

I was in Herne Bay, I had 5 minutes to spare, the pub door was open. What more can I say. It was a fairly quiet Tuesday lunchtime with a handful of people around the bar. I sat in a side booth and stared out the open door.

I had to go into town to buy, amongst other things, a kettle. I'm now working with the idea that I should get a pint in whenever the opportunity presents. It presented; so I got one in.

I was in early lunchtime and there were a handfull of people at the bar and one of them said hello to me. The interior of this pub is excellent and I could sit in one of their comfy chairs all day.

The pub is found in Herne Bay, Kent, CT6 5DS.

Large 2 bar corner pub in Mortimer Street. The interior is very attractive with an assortment of sofas, chairs and bar stools. The Prince of Wales is a Victorian jewel of a pub in central Herne Bay, reflecting the Victorian heyday of this small seaside town. The current licensee has lovingly restored the pub to its original glory winning an English heritage/CAMRA design award. Original features have been retained where possible, such as the tiled Victorian fireplaces with marble mantelpieces and etched glass. The look is complete down to aspidistras on jardinières and a collection of antique water jugs.

We have visited this pub 29 times, seen 18 different beers and tried 14 of them.
