16:35 Had a hour to kill at Kings Cross so came here to take a photo, and of course have a drink. Got talking to a member of the CAMRA Youth from North London. Encouraging to meet an obviously enthusiastic younger member.

Kent - Maple Wheat IPA5.80ExcellentI was very dubious about maple syrup as an ingredient but this was a stunning beer. The maple flavour was there but not with the associated sweetness.

18:30 My first visit since the revamp. Very impressed. As a CAMRA Heritage Pub it always presented a challenge to the faint hearted who wanted to visit. The hurdle of the young ladies has now gone. Very busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hammerton - N14.10ExcellentThe regular beer. Twickenham Naked Ladies would be more appropriate.
Moncada - Notting Hill Amber4.70AcceptableCloudy and chewy. Turned out to be last ones out.

My first chance to visit this pub since its revamp – first ever visit in fact as I was never brave enough to go inside in its previous incarnation. It is even more lovely inside than I imagined. Nice to see the guv’nor doing the rounds of the tables chatting to his customers, of whom there were plenty.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hammerton - N14.10ExcellentA well-flavoured Pale Ale. Amber in colour, with floral and bitter hop tastes.
Wild Card - King of Hearts4.50GoodA golden and fairly crisp Blonde beer with fruity hop flavours. Tasty, but fell flat quite quickly in the glass.
Ripple Steam - Farmhouse Pale Ale4.20AcceptableA straightforward, fruity, brown Bitter with British hop flavours.

The pub is found in Pentonville, Central London, N1 9DU.

The Scottish Stores was present at the southern end of Caledonian Road by 1880 and was rebuilt in its present form in 1901. In the late-20th century it was renamed the Flying Scotsman and earned its trade as a strippers’ pub, its interior sealed off behind thick curtains. A change of direction came in 2015 and in December the pub re-opened after a careful restoration and back under its proper name. The focus is now on beer. The building is Grade II listed, with a beautifully-tiled exterior and a well-preserved interior. There are three small, wood-panelled bars and an Arts & Crafts feel to the décor. A roof garden is expected to open in the summer months. The pub had an association, through its landlord, with the Ripple Steam Brewery of Deal, Kent until that closed in early 2019. 8 handpumps in the front room. 10% discount for card carrying CAMRA members. Added to CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors in summer 2019.

We have visited this pub 24 times, seen 58 different beers and tried 24 of them.
