15 Apr 2021 (Magnus Greel)
Late afternoon to mid evening and fairly busy with folk making the most of our new found freedom thus all tables occupied despite the chilly temperature which after a couple of pints wasn't so obvious.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Torrside - Measure Twice4.60GoodEarthy slightly sweet and sulphourous nevertheless good to drink something unusual in this beer drinker's paradise of a town.
13 Apr 2021 (ChrisE)
I sat in the secluded garden at the rear, not as busy as I thought it might be, the cask ale seemed very popular today.

Torrside - Measure Twice4.60Excellent

Early doors on a Saturday. I came in and had a pint whilst waiting for the pub to open. I also sampled some keg Thornbridga DDH Jaipur from one of the keg tsps.

There should have been four of us in here to crack open a bottle of Nøgne Dark Horizon First Edition but as we were down to just two of us we decided to leave that for another day. In addition to the beers listed below we sampled some stout from Glen Affric brewery on keg dispense.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Drie Fonteinen - Oude Geuze6.00ExcellentJust one bottle of this supplied by Ian and shared. Excellent.
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Green Hop Ernest Red Ale4.50Good

Lunchtime and as busy as social distancing can allow these days made for a pleasant and relaxed couple of hours with Chris E and Steve the entertaining guv here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Green Hop Ernest Red Ale4.50ExcellentFruity, full bodied and thankfully lacking the sulphourous twang associated with OD beers, IMO of course!
10 Oct 2020 (ChrisE)
Saturday lunchtime for opening time at 12:00 but I was the third one in. I managed to get one of the window tables and sample my first green hop beer of the season.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Green Hop Ernest Red Ale4.50ExcellentMost enjoyable and moreish. A nice appetising dark amber/reddish bitter ale.
26 Sep 2020 (ChrisE)
Saturday lunchtime, I think I was the first one in but was soon joined others.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bristol Beer Factory - Fortitude4.00GoodTraditional amber ale.
19 Sep 2020 (ChrisE)
Early Saturday afternoon and fairly quiet.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Siren Craft - Lumina4.20GoodNot my sort of beer but apparently Ian loved it. It made me think of an alcoholic J20 with extra haze and grapefruit. Perfectly well kept but I would have happily paid more for a pint of old fashioned Fremlins.
16 Sep 2020 (ChrisE)
No cask ale today but an ale from Wantsum is getting itself ready in the cellar. I drank a keg porter and stayed longer than originally planned as the company was good. I had a good chat with Ian who used to make regular contributions to this site.

The pub is found in Ashford, Kent, TN23 1JJ.

This pub opened on 27 July 2018 in a former music shop in New Rents. There is seating in the bar area and a separate room to the rear plus a patio area at the back of the pub. Originally all beers were sourced from local breweries and dispensed by gravity from a stillage behind the bar but since then 10 keg lines have been added too and supply may be from outside the local area. A refurbishment took place during March 2020 and beer is now served through a handpump. Refurbishment during 2021 added further lines so now offering 23 beers on KeyKeg/keg, one cask beer on handpump and half a dozen ciders. Card payment only, no cash. Since autumn 2021 there was a second pub in this chain, in Maidstone which subsequently closed. Closed in May 2023 citing lack of viability. Re-opened 2024 with new name but seemingly as a keg house.

We have visited this pub 60 times, seen 56 different beers and tried 47 of them.
