Really busy late evening. Pleasant atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Deeside - Talorcan4.50ExcellentJet black porter. Mild lactic taste from whey in the brew. Soft in the mouth with well balanced flavours - almost a strong mild.
30 Aug 2009 (McGargle)
Busy. Lot of big screen sport but easy to find a quiet corner.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Deeside - Brude3.50ExcellentStraw coloured hoppy summer style ale. Full bodied for its strength perhaps coming from local oatmeal in the grist.
Houston - Black & Tan4.30Not Tried
Deeside - Lady Macbeth3.70Not TriedBrewed with raspberries and oatmeal.
20 Aug 2009 (McGargle)
Curry night so busy. Service quick and friendly.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Butcombe - Gold4.40AcceptableLively golden colour, nice long lasting head. Hoppy aroma with unusual sugar and spice taste. Not really for me.
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Essex Border4.80AcceptableCould have been the Butcombe Gold but not so sweet. Too much spice not enough malt.

Deeside - Talorcan4.50ExcellentJet black porter. Mild lactic taste from whey in the brew. Soft in the mouth with well balanced flavours - almost a strong mild.
31 Jul 2009 (McGargle)
After a long run of beers from interesting micros it was disappointing to see the bar dominated by national blands.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Deeside - Nechtan4.10ExcellentAnother new ale from Deeside. Light and hoppy with lasting citrus aromas. ABV not noted.
Deeside - Macbeth4.10Not Tried
10 Jul 2009 (McGargle)
9 pumps working on a busy early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Guzzler3.60GoodGolden ale with a crisp, refreshing bite. Served in fine condition. £1.65.
Deeside - Macbeth4.10PoorServed too green for my taste this time.
21 Jun 2009 (McGargle)
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sharp's - Eden Ale4.40PoorThe ultimate offend no one, bland pint with no distinguishing characteristics except a vaguely sour note. Head quickly collapsed to lace.
19 Jun 2009 (McGargle)
Busy hum: quick service.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - White Dwarf4.30ExcellentInitial 'what's that?' bitterness which quickly mellows to a more fruity mix and a long, dry finish. Body that you'd expect from a wheat beer. £1.65.
Burton Bridge - Burton Porter4.50AcceptableServed in good condition but lacking the depth and complexity I'd expect from a porter. £1.65.
18 Jun 2009 (McGargle)
Quick and friendly service early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Mordue - Radgie Gadgie4.80GoodWell balanced. Plenty of fruit and malt with a lingering bitter finish.
Deeside - Macbeth4.10AcceptableOutstanding hoppy ale with cascade and (I think)fuggles. Unusually, not on best form tonight, cardboard overtones.
