Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Jack WilliamExcellent04 Jun 2022 So good to see this back from Oakham. Reminiscences of Dover’s New Mogul and their “kill the dwarf” sessions - where 9 gallons were quaffed in a couple of hours or so.

Jack WilliamGood02 Aug 2018 I’d heard this was back this year and so pleased to see it. Was very pleasant but I’m not sure that it had the same hoppy bite that used to draw crowds to the New Mogul in Dover to “kill the dwarf” sessions.

Bear & Ragged StaffGood07 Nov 2011 Not a great fan of wheat beers but this is one of the better ones. Pleasantly light and refreshing but you will know what I mean when I say 'typically Oakham'.

McGargleExcellent19 Jun 2009 Initial 'what's that?' bitterness which quickly mellows to a more fruity mix and a long, dry finish. Body that you'd expect from a wheat beer. £1.65.

IanExceptional06 Apr 2007 I had this as my first and last beer on both days and it was as good each time. The fruit, mouthfeel, hop finish that goes on and on were all exceptional.

IanExceptional02 Jun 2006 Pale gold with lasting white head. Cereal flavour in mouth, alpha acids hop finish. Fantastic tangerine and grapefruit flavours. When I came back the next day, the blokes on the same table as me all agreed that this was the best beer they tried at the festival.

Oakham White Dwarf

4.30% ABV.

Piercing bitterness in this 'brite'English style wheat beer which mellows to reveal fruit overtones amidst a dry as a bone finish. This is a real thirst quencher.

We have tried this beer 35 times.

We have given this beer an average score of Good to Excellent.
