Early evening visit, I took the opportunity to pick up some current London bus maps from the leaflet container, it is so much easier to get them here than try to find them in London. I had a good discussion with Colin about various beer matters.

Micropub located in Grange Road towards the sea end. Located on Stagecoach East Kent's Thanet Loop bus route which also conveniently serves Ramsgate Harbour and Ramsgate railway station. A former corner shop converted to a pub specialising in real ales. There is no bar, and no television or fruit machines. Beers are served by gravity dispense, and one cider is usually available. Keg beers and lagers are not sold in this pub which opened for business on 16 November 2010. Awarded CAMRA Thanet Branch's Pub of the Year 2012. Awarded CAMRA's East Kent Pub of the Year for 2012. Awarded CAMRA's Kent Pub of the Year 2012 in August 2012 so became one of the last 16 in CAMRA's National Pub of the Year for 2012 competition. In November 2012 selected as one of the last 4 in the CAMRA National 2012 PoTY competition. On Saturday 12th September 2020 the founding father licensee, Colin Aris, retired and the pub closed for a refurbishment. Re-opened under new ownership, associated with the Four Candles brewery in St Peter's, and fully refurbished on Monday 17th May 2021. Reported closed either after Christmas 2022 (probably 30th December 2022) with future now uncertain. Re-opened on 31st August 2023 with new operator. Now has sofas and a long padded bench for seating and a chilled multi-tiered cabinet for cask ales and ciders served on gravity dispense. Table service. Cash and card payment accepted.
We have visited this pub 348 times, seen 346 different beers and tried 282 of them.
