A must for any beer lover. Even got a table on a Saturday evening. Usual mix of unusual UK micros.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Archers - Banged Up4.30GoodDark orange beer with lasting beige head. Some hop, some OK malt. Hops are quite green with a very nice hop finish
Cotswold Spring - Codrington Royal4.30AcceptableDark chestnut beer, thin beige head. Some darkish malts, some nice dark fruit. Fine, but not too hot. Some spicey hop finish
Archers - Lost the Plot4.00AcceptableOrange beer with off white head. Pleasant citrus fruit nose, some apple, some acids. Fairly typical of Archers beers I have had in the past. Some hops on aroma and finish
Tower - Autumn Equinox4.60AcceptablePale chestnut beer with thin white head. Yes, quite nice malt some decent hop. Something a bit earthy too. Fine, but nothing amazing

Mid saturday afternoon and I got a seat inside which amazed me. Always excited about coming here as I can guarantee that they will have something I have not had before, normally from breweries I haven't tried. Sometimes the beer quality suffers on this high turnover. Definitely worth coming to though.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Phoenix - West Coast I.P.A.4.60AcceptableDark copper colour with thin beige head. Cookie dough and hoppy aroma. Caramel and op in mouth. More hop on end but disappinting and a bit of muddle of flavours. Like so many beers at this pub, never sure that this is exactly how it should taste.
Blackawton - Original Bitter3.80Poor Ruby brown colour, no head. Eggy yeast aromas, some apple and brown sugar. Disappointing beer

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 9AA.

Famous pub opposite Borough Market in Stoney Street. Central bar has many beers which change on a regular basis and are mostly from UK micros. Can be extremely busy. Refurbishment some time ago and now there is one main room with a side area with seating as well. Many customers use the pavement outside to stand and enjoy their drinks. Really a must for anyone taking in London pubs. Sports 12 handpumps with 6 in each of the 2 distinct bar serving areas plus a further 4 for cider dispense at the far rear. Upstairs restaurant bar area too, mainly for lunchtime use. In 2019 the real ale choice was drastically reduced to 4 and the cider was withdrawn. Downstairs toilets. Card payment only, cash not accepted here.

We have visited this pub 282 times, seen 813 different beers and tried 647 of them.
