24 Jun 2015 (HSB)
17:15 After a day of domestic duties my reward came in the form of a trip here. The pub is holding a midi beer festival over the weekend of 3rd to 5th of July. Six new beers from the pub's brewery will be on sale. Steve showed me the recipes for each brew, they range from 3.5% to 7% ABV. I intend to spend the Saturday afternoon sampling them. A report will duly follow.
Magic Dragon (formerly New Plassey) - Snowdonia Blonde | 3.80 | | Very tasty |
Northumberland - Northumberland Blonde | 3.90 | | Bit malty for me |
Neath - Dusk til Dawn | 4.50
1648 - Absolutely Marvellous | 3.80 | | Richie Benaud commemorative. Sadly last one out, changed. |
09 Jun 2015 (HSB)
18:00 Usual Tuesday meet up. Blackboard notice announcing the increase in cask beer to £2.90 (£2.70 with a CAMRA discount). What a contrast to London.
Slater's - Premium | 4.40 | | Very tasty |
Green Jack - Excelsior | 4.00
Slater's - Rye I.P.A. | 3.80 | | An interesting beer. I like rye beers but I do think that they are better bottled and carbonated to lift the flavour otherwise they can be a bit chewy. |
02 Jun 2015 (HSB)
18:30 A late arrival as our journey from Diss took twice as long as usual. Luckily our friends were equally tardy.
Cottage - Tornado | 4.70 | | Tasty beer but slightly sweet. |
Eden River (formerly Eden) - Depth Charge | 5.10 | | Cask lager, fruity and held its taste. |
18 May 2015 (HSB)
16:50 Unexpected trip to Attleborough to collect something. Took opportunity to visit pub.
St Peter's - Organic Ale | 4.50
Northumberland - Brown Ale | 4.60
12 May 2015 (HSB)
18:30 Stayed a bit longer than usual and for a brief period had the pub to ourselves as the early doors left and the mid-evening drinkers turned up.
Taylor's Attleborough - Second Coming | 3.90 | | I like this beer a lot. A true English bitter with no modern gimmicks. |
Green Jack - Waxwing | 3.90
Borough (Neath) - Full Blast | 4.70
Humpty Dumpty - Little Sharpie | 3.80 | Not Tried

21 Apr 2015 (HSB)
18:10 Our usual group of friends were in attendance. One of the topics of conversation was the definition of a Coulomb.
Salopian - Lemon Dream | 4.50 | | Approached with some trepidation as I am not a great fan of citrus beers but this worked very well. |
Beer Engine - Piston Bitter | 4.30 | | Such a tasty beer. |
Oldershaw - Ascalon | 4.00
Teignworthy - Martha's Mild | 5.30 | Not Tried
07 Apr 2015 (HSB)
18:00 Usual evening visit. Fairly quiet.
Grain - Year of the Hop 2015 - Wakatu | 4.40 | | I wrongly thought that the only change to YOTH beers was just the hop. But this was a very different beer, a lot lighter in colour with more malt taste. |
Northumberland - Blyth Bitter | 3.70 | | Hoppy copper ale. I find Northumberland beers very variable. Some I love, some I loathe. |
Oxfordshire Ales - Marsh Hare | 4.20 | | Getting near the end. |
