Saturday early afternoon.Still quite busy. Cricket on the green and good Kent and Sussex beers:archetypal pub.
Dark Star - Hophead (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.80 | | Dunno if they've changed the recipe:this tasted more tropically fruity than I remember, and a notch less tooth raspingly astringent. Perhaps more to my taste! |

Evening - surprisingly full - we were asked if we were here to sing as we entered - no we came for the beer and wine. After ordering we found out that it was a "beer and hymns" evening - no place for atheists so we downed our drinks and left to the cringing tones of "To be a pilgrim". I thought they had special buildings for this sort of music?

Sunday evening. A few drinkers in - nice atmosphere.
Dark Star - Hophead (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.80 | | In excellent condition, good hoppy flavour and body especially for a fairly low ABV ale. |
Shepherd Neame - Samuel Adams Blonde Ambition | 4.50 | | Landlord spotted our faces as my son and I winced at the taste of this rather good looking beer - clear and with a reasonable head - but on the verge of sour. To his credit he immediately took the beer off and replaced the pints apologetically. End of the barrel - had been good earlier apparently. |
