A friend of mine is moving to Helsinki so a farewell party was in order, this was the first port of call. The pub was already fairly busy so with all 15 or so of us it was fairly cramped. They've finally changed up their beer line-up, good news.

Piano sessions, felt like drinking in a 1920's speakeasy only without the suits and cigars. I always think this pub is full of potential, if they changed the ale up a bit it'd be a good start. Barmaid didn't appreciate my attempt at a joke, "Glenmorangie on the rocks with no ice please" she just stared daggers at me until I left...

Had recently finished a massive bike ride so was practically falling asleep at the bar. This is a lovely pub, bit of tweaking and it'd probably be my local.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA3.80GoodSweet and a bit hoppy. There's a great beer here somewhere, tone down the sweetness and up the hops and it'd be fantastic.

After spending most of the afternoon/evening in Ramsgate I was summoned to come here as a friend was singing. Probably should have opted for bed instead. Only stayed for one, had a drunken chat with the landlord and my friends before staggering off home.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA3.80AcceptableSlightly chemically but only very subtle. Light, hoppy and refreshing other than that.

Here for an acoustic open mic night as advertised in the local paper, only problem was the pub knew nothing about it, oh well. Extraordinarily attractive pub and very busy for a monday as well. I'd love to come here more often, the beer just isn't up to scratch unfortunately.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA3.80AcceptablePale, slightly malty and creamy with a hint of chemicals. Not on great form.

Popped down to see who was playing. Band sounded quite good but unfortunately it was so busy I left after one.

Despite standing in the middle of town I decided to keep nipping back to the Frigate as the Deuchar's was on great form. Packed to the rafters, band was playing. Top notch atmosphere.

Now this is how you sepnd St Patricks day. Old fashioned pub, beer and an irish band playing classic Irish folk songs. I had a great time, a fantastic atmosphere. I may have to start coming down for their Celtic nights.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Greene King - Abbot5.00AcceptableThis seemed to taste different with every sip, one second it would be fantastic, the next mediocre. Average out at kind've average.
