Got in here an hour before closing. It takes me 30 minutes to walk here so I had quite a thirst by the time I arrived.
Mordue - Workie Ticket | 4.50 | | Just as good as it was on friday. |
Sharp's - Eden Ale | 4.40 | | Smooth and refreshing, distinctively Sharps'. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
03 Oct 2008 (Blair)
Spent the evening chatting to the locals and getting soundly beaten at pool by them. Good times.
Mordue - Workie Ticket | 4.50 | | Lovely beer. Rich, malty and exceptionally smooth. |
Phoenix - Spotland Gold | 4.10 | | Light fruity beer. Pretty good, one of the locals who was drinking Stella started drinking my pint by mistake and didn't notice. Not sure if that's a compliment or not... |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
27 Sep 2008 (Blair)
Came in around lunchtime. Fairly busy, had a few pints and played some pool. I love this pub.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Rye Pale Ale | 4.00 | | Not a bad beer but probably my least favourite of the Gadds' range. Light with a nice straw flavour, quite harsh at the end though. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried

Pretty quiet with just a few sat at the bar. There were two dogs entertaining us all. It was more fun than it sounds...
Oakham - Bishops Farewell | 4.60 | | Lovely, this is a fantastic beer! Light and crisp, very hoppy with a nice citrussy twist as well. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Light hoppy ale with a certain grassieness to it. Lovely as always. |
Archers - Crystal Clear | 5.00 | | Ridiculously sweet and funnily enough rather cloudy. Not a good beer, very cloying. |
Marston's - Bass | 4.40 | Not Tried
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Flowers Original (subsequently contract brewed at Brains) | 4.40 | Not Tried
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried

Quite busy with a great bunch of friendly locals in. Well worth the 40 minute stroll here.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Sunchaser | 4.00 | | Very light pale ale. Really refreshing with lots of fruit and a little malt. Lovely beer. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - She Sells Sea Shells | 4.70 | | Excellent. Sweet with lots of toffee and a little creamy. Great body to it. |
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA | 3.80 | | Crystal clear ale. Really nice refreshing beer with a biscuity flavour to it. |
Surrey Hills - Shere Drop | 4.20 | | Very nice malty bitter initially, but there is a bit of an aftertatse that ruins it a little for me. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried

Fair few people in, really friendly atmosphere. Need to come here more, it's the closest decent pub to me. I have no excuses.
Dark Star - Summer Solstice | 4.20 | | I was gasping for a pint after a long walk in the sun, this was perfect. Light, hoppy, smooth and refreshing. I don't see how there can be a better summer ale out there. |
Adnams - Regatta | 4.30 | | Alrightish pint, malty with a stranger cider-like flavour to it. Wouldn't drink it again, but you've got to try these things. |
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Guzzler | 3.60 | Not Tried
Surrey Hills - Shere Drop | 4.20 | Not Tried

Popped in for a couple after a long walk round the coast. Few people in, nice friendly atmosphere.
Hogs Back - Tongham TEA (previously T.E.A.) | 4.20 | | Nice clean refreshing pint. Very good session bitter. |
Hogs Back - Hop Garden Gold | 4.40 | | Gold with a thick creamy head; fruity aroma; bitter and orangey to start then developing a marmalade sweetness; sweet and sticky finish.
|
Springhead - Sweetlips | 4.60 | | Golden coloured and slightly pale with some fruit aroma. Hoppy finish. Very refreshing beer.
|
Archers - Top Tipple | 5.00 | | Yet another 'average' Archers ale. Amber coloured beer with some hoppiness. Slight bitterness in the malt finish. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Archers - Hop Bouquet | 3.70 | Not Tried

I caught the train to Broadstairs and then walked 20 minutes to the pub. There's a public bar and a saloon and the beers are split between them. If you want to know what's on (without having to ask) there's a list of the beers in the window before you come in. Interesting pub; quite 1970's inside. The staff and locals were all friendly and I was even offered a roast potato.
Grand Union - IPA | 5.30 | | Golden, well ballanced with a rich and citrus hop to it. I shall miss this brewery when it closes in the very near future. |
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Flowers IPA (subsequently contract brewed at Brains) | 3.60 | Not Tried
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Yorkshire Terrier | 4.20 | Not Tried

Great pub, but dead at 9 in the evening on a saturday night. Not a good sign surely.
Dark Star - Smoke | 5.00 | | Exactly as it says on the tin, smoky. Very tasty though. Coffee aroma. |
