19 Oct 2017 (Stephen Harris)
A late-evening pint, homeward bound after a day in Brussels.
| Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Belt & Braces (superseded by 4.8% version) | 4.20 | | Amber/red in colour. Bitter hop and some toffee. |
| Siren Craft - Liquid Mistress Red IPA | 5.80 | Not Tried | |
| Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Runner | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
18 Aug 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Quite late in the evening. I had to brave a bouncer on the door to get in. Not clear why he was there; the pub was rather quiet.
| Siren Craft - Liquid Mistress Red IPA | 5.80 | | One of my favourites. Irresistible. |
| Signature Brew - Session | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
01 Aug 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Late evening visit, just as the quiz was coming to an end. Not for the first time recently I was unable to benefit from the 42p a pint CAMRA discount because no managers were present and only a manager can authorise the discount.
| Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Scorcher | 4.20 | | More of a golden beer with reddish tinges than an actual Red. Citrus hops. Rather thin body. |
| Siren Craft - Under Current | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
| Siren Craft - White Tips | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
27 Jul 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Mid to late-evening. Not busy. Very relaxed in fact.
| Siren Craft - Under Current | 4.50 | | Amber-coloured. An accomplished APA. |
| Siren Craft - White Tips | 4.50 | | A very tasty wheat beer enlivened with US hops and jazzed up with citrus fruit zest. |
| Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Scorcher | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
05 Jul 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Quite late in the evening, for a quick one. It’s hot and muggy, even with every door and window open.
| Siren Craft - Half Mast QIPA | 2.80 | | Low strength and refreshing. Just the job. |
| Signature Brew - Signature Pale | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Stod Fold - Dr Harris | 5.70 | Not Tried | |
26 Jun 2017 (Stephen Harris)
A brief, late-evening visit. Pub quiet.
| Wild Beer Co. - Bibble | 4.20 | | Good, but I’ve tasted this beer better. |
| Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Zephyr | 4.40 | Not Tried | |
| Stod Fold - Dr Harris | 5.70 | Not Tried | |
22 Jun 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Quite late in the evening. At first the pub appears almost empty, but then I realise there are quite a lot of people out in the back garden.
| Stod Fold - Dr Harris | 5.70 | | A well-named and full-bodied, English-style IPA. |
| Signature Brew - Signature Pale | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Zephyr | 4.40 | Not Tried | |
28 May 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Late evening quick one.
| Hepworth - Hiver The Honey Ale | 4.50 | | Strength given as 5.0%. An initially rather odd tasting Honey IPA. The flavour grew on me actually. |
| Stod Fold - Uncle Sam | 5.20 | Not Tried | |
04 May 2017 (Stephen Harris)
I managed to catch the last 20 minutes of the televised Millwall match in here. Standing room only. One cask beer only, with two Stod Fold Brewery clips turned around.
| Signature Brew - Backstage IPA | 5.60 | | Great IPA in sparkling condition tonight. |
01 Apr 2017 (Stephen Harris)
A very busy session ahead of football at Brisbane Road.
| Brighton Bier - South Coast IPA | 5.00 | | On very good form. |
| Marble - Pint (was 3.9%) | 3.40 | | I’ve always thought of this as a beer with high hop levels. Dominated today by malty flavours. |
