Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Truman's Three Theads5.00ExcellentExcellent recreation of an old style of ale. The character is that of a strong mild with sweet malt flavours and a lowish hop rate and bitterness. Fruitiness comes through in the slightly vineous finish. My score 16/20.

Replacement for old Wheatsheaf round the corner during that pub's period of closure. Called The New Wheatsheaf until the old Wheatsheaf re-opened. This used to be called the Hop Cellars and is a cellar bar type pub. Free of tie, it now has a good selection of guest beers, including an Eagle Young's brand beer. Up to 6 cask beers available.
