Very quiet on a Monday evening, although people were beginning to arrive, as we were leaving, to watch the Fulham game on TV. Nice to see a new ‘Beer Menu’ on all the tables here – but no prices given for anything.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cambrinus Craft - Deliverance4.20GoodA pale, dry and sharply hoppy beer. The Cambrinus brands are now owned by Liverpool Organic Brewery.
Cheddar - Bitter Bully3.80AcceptableA pale beer with a good malt base and a citrus hop overlay – this sample spoiled slightly by a spicy, suspended yeast taste.

I’ve had some issues here with beer quality on recent visits – but all is fine today. Quite busy on Sunday afternoon, with the Spurs game on TV.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Yates' (Isle of Wight) (some beers brewed at Goddards) - Best Bitter3.80GoodCopper-coloured, with a delicately perfumed hop scent.
Isle of Purbeck - Studland Bay Wrecked4.50AcceptableA brown, traditional bitter with a nice balance. Sweetish, with some caramel.
Piddle (Dorset Piddle) - Jimmy Riddle3.70AcceptableA standard, malty bitter.

07 Feb 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy although not as rammed as the nearby Market Porter, from which this provided a relatively quiet refuge.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wentworth - Wentworth Brown Ale4.40GoodRed/brown ale with a malty character and fairly low bitterness. Sweetish fruity finish. My score 15/20.
31 Jan 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bollington - Bollington Nights3.90ExcellentRare find in here, a black mild with good chocolate malt character and hints of liquorice. Low hop rate and a little fruit in the finish. My score 16/20.
18 Jan 2012 (Stephen Harris)
In central London these days they say that Wednesdays are the new Thursdays, and it is certainly very crowded in here. Uncomfortably so at times. It is a shame that the beer quality does not live up to the diversity promised by the handpumps.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Great Heck - Yorkshire Pale Ale4.30GoodA pale, slightly hazy, malty beer with a decent hop bite.
Northern (see also Blakemere) - Blakemere Snowy Owl4.10AcceptableGold coloured, with some hop in the aroma. But taste dominated by spicy yeast flavours which probably should not be there.
Milestone - Sherwood Stag4.80PoorA deep red, rather thin and slightly sour beer. In poor condition and I doubt it is meant to taste like that.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride4.10Not Tried

Great Heck - DAVE3.80Not TriedI was warned off of this one by other drinkers - poor condition.
17 Jan 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Relatively quiet compared with other pubs in the area.
BeerABVScoreNotes
B&T (Banks & Taylor's) - Black Dragon Mild4.30ExcellentStrong mild that is black in colour. Full bodied and sweet with toffee and chocolate flavours. My score 16/20.
17 Dec 2011 (oz11)
Saturday, evening, not too busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Keystone - Large One4.20AcceptableLacking condition.
13 Dec 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
A quieter refuge from the rammed market pubs round the corner.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Great Heck - Vanilla Porter4.50GoodDark brown porter with a strong vanilla flavour. Dark malts and the vanilla give a powdery feel to the beer which manifests itself in a very dry, astringent finish. My score 15/20.
03 Dec 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Quite busy with sport on the many TV screens.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wentworth - Barnsley Beer Co. Ronnie's Owd Cock4.00AcceptablePale and quite bitter beer with a dryish hop finish. My score 14/20.
23 Jul 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
BeerABVScoreNotes
North Yorkshire - Boro Best4.00GoodVery pale indeed with a good citrus hop character. The finish is quite fruity with a bitter edge. My score 14/20.
