At least the bar staff weren't wearing fancy dress. Had a half but had to leave quickly as my train was due.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Coach House - Cromwell4.00AcceptableFine, decent brown bitter.

Fairly empty on an early Wednesday evening. 10 handpumps with 8 beers from the Autumn festival plus Pedigree and Incubus (again!!!!!) To be honest if it wasn't for the fact that this was slap bang next to the train station I wouldn't go out of my way to visit it.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Wicked Witch4.60AcceptableChestnut colour with very thin bubbly beige head. Slightly yeasty nose. Some caramel, some fragrant hop. slightly sour in mouth with drying hop finish and more yeast. Fine. Good finish. In fact middle and end are better than the start
Shepherd Neame - Kent's Best4.10AcceptableDeep copper colour with bubbly off white head. Nice yeasty hop aroma. Finish is rather stunning. Very drying, almost dessicating hop, bit thin in mouth the the rest is good. Touch of caramel malt. Hops on end are a bit of a revelation

Busy Wetherspoons next to Maidstone East station. Only had a bottle of Red Lion beer from New Zealand as none of the draught beers inspired me. However, enjoyed people watching out of the window

Ian immediately spotted the JHB pump click and ran off to the bar. Fairly busy Friday lunch time in an uninspiring pub.

Mordue - Workie Ticket4.50ExcellentCaramel brown bitter with lovely deep toffee and caramel flavours.
Oakham - JHB3.80PoorTasted of diacetyl (and new word that Ian taught me)

Pub number 3 for me and Andrew. After looking at the beer line up at Muggletons and the Druid's Arms, we ended up here for a pint and something to drink. Usual Wetherspoons range plus a couple or 3 guests. Pub is on ground floor of office block just near Maidstone East station.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Mordue - Workie Ticket4.50ExcellentHad this before, but not tasting like this. Amazing toffee and caramel malt flavours throughout. Excellent beer.
Oakham - JHB3.80PoorInitially not too bad with typical pale gold colour and grapefruit/tangerine/hop aromas. However, as the pint went down, it was clear that there was something not right. Problem was the diacetyl (buttery/butterscotch aroma or taste). Ruined it.

By Maidstone East, this Wetherspoons is set in the quadrangle formed by office blocks. Some seating outside in good weather and lots of glass gives this pub an airy feeling even though it is surrounded by buildings. Up to 4 guest beers and usual Wetherspoons range
BeerABVScoreNotes
