Really lively, friendly crowd. Good to see the landlord Dave back in here. Haven't seen him for about 6 months and the pub seemed to be slipping without him. A strange man kept trying to dance with me, it was a little off-putting.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Daleside - Starbeck Stout4.20ExcellentRoasted malt with hints of chocolate and coffee. Good stout, although it could do with a little more body.
Hop Back - Summer Lightning5.00GoodGrassy, hoppy flavour with a slight alcohol finish. This is a good beer, but not sure it deserves all the hype it gets.
Archers - Golden Bitter4.70Not Tried

Pretty busy with a good atmosphere. Still not as good as it was in the past, but better than it's been recently.

Fairly quiet, I was a little on the tipsy side by this point so didn't notice much else.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Busy with a mixture of young and old. The music was lively and loud and the atmosphere was good
BeerABVScoreNotes
Swansea - Deep Slade Dark4.00AcceptableBlack with a minimal head. Had a chalky sheen to the surface. Tasted powdery with a base-bitterness to it and a slight hint of blackcurrent.

What a great pub and this is the first time I've noticed they have a down-stairs. It was fairly busy around the bar so I sat up above it. Led Zep and Pink Floyd were playing on the juke box and the air was thick with smoke. Alaistair was at the bar rubbing in the fact that only he knew when Whitsunday was.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Northumberland - Fog on the Tyne4.10ExcellentA golden beer with no head that smelt of wet hay. Tasted of wild strawberries with hints of kiwi and subtle mandarine. The finish was short lived and had a sweet mandarine bitterness to it.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - DogBolter Dark Porter5.60GoodI had this for the first time really 5 days ago at the Dover Beer Festival and this just goes to show you can't define a pint of real ale by trying it once. This was a totally different pint. Imagine drinking alcoholic raisens with the sugar taken out, combined with burnt parsnip and with a rich dark dry sherry bitter finish. It was nothing like the Dover beer. I must have more before I make my mind up about it.

Fairly busy and friendly. I came in carrying a plastic bag and one of the regulars thought I'd brought in a Chinese to share with him. Heard a great quote from a drunk bloke opposite: 'Fundamentally, it might or might not'.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Itchen Valley - Easter Bunnies3.90AcceptableSmelt of sour malt (in a good way). Brown beer with a short lived head. As for taste ...think of any brown best bitter and you'll have it.

Last pub in my mini-ramsgate tour. Great split level pub with the upper level full of seating and the lower with bar stools. If I lived in Ramsgate this would be my local! I'm sure I saw Eddie Gadd walk in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
