Monday evening and probably the busiest place in the town centre. I had to ask for my beer to be topped up to a full pint but even after an additional squirt it was still short of a pint but probably still good value for money.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Upham - Punter4.00GoodA good flavoursome pint but one was enough.
Limestone - Stone the Crows5.20GoodVery acceptable dark rather sweetish ale.

Early afternoon and fairly quiet. I took the opportunity to read the new edition of Wetherspoon News, study the new menus and the tasting notes for the October Real Ale Festival.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thwaites - Half Nelson4.40GoodA good flavousome pint with good hop character.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Cambridge Brewing Sgt. Pepper4.20PoorI have never had this beer before so I do not know how it compared with the same beer in other pubs, but I did not like it at all. I gave up and left it.

16:00 visit. Another rarely visited part of Kent, this one being a "train connection interlude"? After a quick stroll around this one-horse town, amazingly quiet too, I stepped into this JD's, and again, very quiet at this time. Friendly service and the ales were as noticeable as the varied UK accents here...But I think I'll stay in the station buffet next time...even the Mr Cow & Miss Chicken outlets were empty!

Late afternoon visit, and the service was excellent, the pub was absolutely spotless both front and back and back of house, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. I was surprised to see that some of the festival beers were already on sale, and was informed that the pub had been extremely busy, and some of the festival ales had already been and gone, even though the event is not scheduled to start until 3 April. The beers that have already sold out at this pub are Brains Willy Nilly, Lodewijk's Fly By Night, Devils Backbone American amber, and Corfu Ionian Coffee Porter. Lets hope that they get some more in.

Saturday afternoon, they were adverising "curry's" for £2.99 so I had a curry to accompany my pint. The lady behind the bar did not appear to understand my comments about the apostrophe on their menu.
