Ran into ChrisE here. Unfortunately I happened to have the last of the Westerham Uppin Smoke. I spent 90 mins going through some Scoopgen yahoo group threads and amazed at the number of new London breweries.
Westerham - Uppin Smoke | 4.00 | | Yep, this is a smoked beer made in Kent and tasty as hell. |
Brains - SA Gold | 4.30 | | I saw that I'd really liked this before so tried it again. More malty and less hoppy than when I had it before. OK. |
Brewster's - Pandora | 4.80 | | Just not my thing but in good condition and perfectly fine. |

It rained. It was a Saturday afternoon and seriously, I really had nothing better to do. They have had a number of Nelson beers in recently, but pleased to see on this visit that Westerham were coming back.
Westerham - Uppin Smoke | 4.00 | | It's a lager. it's smoked. What's not to like? Loved it. Good mouth feel, good condition. The smoke is a little smoked fish and a tad woody, but decent. I drank two pints of it and wondered where it had gone to. Will come back for an aperatif for Sunday lunch. |

Curry club evening, I must say I was tempted.
Westerham - Alt Ego | 4.00 | | Superb, the only problem there was only just about one pint in the cask, they just about filled my glass and offered to change it if it was not alright. I enjoyed the beer, and decided to go home. |

One of those lovlely moments where you go further and further up the barxseeing what beers are on and then there on the last handpump is Jaipur! Friday early evening and time to get stinking drunk.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | | It's Jaipur and it's glorious. I try to think of a beer I would rather drink now and I cant. Will be back tomorrow as well as long as I dont get too Jaipur-ly |
06 Oct 2011 (Ian)
I aspied Mr Excell entering the pub just as I was locking up my bike. So we got a couple of pints and sat and chatted about beer and places visited and plans for the future. I very enjoyable early evening.
Hook Norton - Flagship | 5.30 | | Its too sweet. Too much unsubtle alcohol..Lots of english hops on finish. Not great
|
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Whakatu | 3.70 | | Not enough hops, not enough malt for a backbone. Needed more of everything in my opinion. Bit of yeast character on the aroma. |
Thwaites - Daniel's Hammer | 5.00 | | Bit of yeast character which is quite strong. Cant decide if I like it or not. Lots of yeast character. Hmmmmm. Ok just
