End of the festival so choice was more limited.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sixpoint - Bengali Tiger (can) - was 6.4%6.50ExcellentWhen all else fails this is an excellent standby. Smooth slightly sweet malts and juicy hopping.
Old Worthy - XP6.00AcceptableContract brewed by Isle of Skye. Boozy; didn't hide its alcohol. Thypical Skye graininess with Old World hopping. One was quite enough. Maybe 2*.
12 Apr 2014 (McGargle)
Busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wood's - Shropshire Lad4.50GoodGood example of a traditional, best bitter served in top condition.
WharfeBank - Black Geld4.50PoorBadged as a black IPA this was nothing of the sort and therefore only gets 2*s. Now if they'd called it a porter.......
31 Mar 2014 (McGargle)
Good selection of festival ales. Good to see they were selling well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Cigar City Brewing Siren's Song Session IPA5.00ExcellentBursting with American hops offest by a solid malt base. Too drinkable.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Hildegard Van Ostaden Solange6.00ExcellentLight, very crisp and refreshing. Perfect for that warm sunny day.
Brains - White Out4.00AcceptableGiven the hops (Cascade, Simcoe and Summit) this was disappointingly muted.
Daleside - Sea Fever4.30AcceptableA clash of hops and malt. Didn't work for me.

27 Mar 2014 (McGargle)
Busy for an early start to the festival.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Banks's - Young Henrys Real Ale4.00ExcellentThe programme notes sum it up well: "This beer is a modern take on the traditional English best bitter style, with a solid malt backing of caramel and toffee, balanced by hints of spice and a mellow, deep citrus flavour, leading to a long bitter finish." I'd agree with that.
Thwaites - Driftwood Brewing Driftwood Pale Ale5.00GoodReal nice tropical fruit hopping and smooth malt. Let down by being too smooth - desperately needed more bitterness.
Shepherd Neame - India Pale Ale4.50AcceptableDisappointing cask version of the (much stronger) bottled favourite. Needed much more body to carry off the hopping.
12 Mar 2014 (McGargle)
Fast friendly service.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Sixpoint Make It Rain5.00GoodMaybe 4*.
05 Mar 2014 (McGargle)

BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Sixpoint Make It Rain5.00ExcellentMarginally fruitier than last night. 5*?
04 Mar 2014 (McGargle)
Android picked the pub straight away this time.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Sixpoint Make It Rain5.00ExcellentBoarderline 5*. Lurking between a premium bitter and a pale ale this had smooth clear malts underpinning tropical and citrus hops. Bitter and drying finish.
Conwy (Bragdy Conwy) - Infusion3.90AcceptableSweet but slightly hoppy inoccuous golden ale.
27 Feb 2014 (McGargle)
Early evening. Busy but good service.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Acorn - Winter Pale Ale4.50GoodSlightly metallic finish but enjoyable enough.
25 Feb 2014 (McGargle)
Jammed before some football match.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 35.00GoodWell this was a happy surprise. Clean, fresh, bitter and hoppy. Would have been 4* if we didn't have Hit the Lip afterwards.
20 Feb 2014 (McGargle)
Great beer selection. Worthy, close POTY runner up. First posting from my phone - fingers crossed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Island Hopping3.90ExcellentLight, crisp and hoppy.
Caledonian - The Bruery Oatmeal Stout (American Craft Brewers Showcase)5.50AcceptableSweet and milky chocolate stout. Beer for bed time. Maybe 2*.
