Marble - JP Best | 4.30 | | |
27 Feb 2012 (Stephen Harris)
After a weekend out in the sticks and an early evening watching the 20:20 cricket in a nearby Shepherd Neame pub, my hop levels were running dangerously low. This was the place to top up. Not too busy mid-evening on a Monday.
Liverpool Organic - Imperial Russian Stout | 7.90 | | Oh wow! Creamy, roasted, strong, an everlasting bitter aftertaste, thick, liquorice. Lovely. |
Bristol Beer Factory - Indulgence | 4.60 | | A very heavily-hopped, amber bitter. Manages to maintain a good balance despite the fierce hop rates. |
Marble - Lagonda Trial 7 | 5.00 | | Not sure what all this ‘Trial 7’ stuff is. But this was a wonderfully hop-headed, pale IPA-style beer. |
Rooster's - Yankee | 4.30 | Not Tried
Liverpool Organic - Best Bitter | 4.20 | Not Tried
Redemption - Trinity | 3.00 | Not Tried
Bristol Beer Factory - Milk Stout | 4.50 | Not Tried
Redemption - Fellowship Porter | 5.10 | Not Tried

This tiny pub was full to bursting and beyond at 7pm. I’ve missed their IPA Festival by four days – never mind, there is still an excellent beer range with treats way beyond my capacity.
Fyne - Vital Spark | 4.40 | | Described on the pub blackboard as a Red Ale, but drinks more like a dark, fruity bitter. Very deep red in colour, rich and fruity, with a dry finish. |
Arbor Ales - Nibiru | 6.30 | | Another glass of single hoppiness from Arbor. Golden in colour, with resiny hops. A strong, sticky, sippin’ beer that I took so long over that the entire clientele of the pub had changed over by the time I finished my pint. |
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Orkney Blast | 6.00 | | Golden / amber in colour, with a thick mouthfeel and obvious high alcohol. Quite sweet and malty with a bitter hop finish. I’m afraid I didn’t much care for this one. |
Bristol Beer Factory - Stout | 4.00 | Not Tried
Fyne - Hurricane Jack | 4.40 | Not Tried
Bristol Beer Factory - Southville Hop | 6.50 | Not Tried
Kernel (The Kernel) - Export Stout | 7.80 | Not Tried | This cask was at 7.4% |
Bristol Beer Factory - Acer | 3.80 | Not Tried

Northcote - Euston Tap One For the Road | 5.00 | | One of the final brews at Northcote before closure, this was brewed by one of the Euston Tap's staff using locally grown hops which give the beer a distinct smokey flavour without the use of smoked malt. My score 15/20. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - 80/- | 4.60 | | Reddish bitter with a dry, bitter flavour. Some hoppiness and a dry, malty finish. My score 14/20. |

Only noted the one I tried
Rooster's - Orange Blossom | 3.90

What a small and quirky place this is. I like it. I can imagine it has a good atmosphere when it's heaving. There also appears to be a seating area up a steep spiral staircase. There appears to be a good bottled selection if you're into that and 8 beers on cask.
Rooster's - Leghorn | 4.30 | | Pale gold, mellow, lemony, bit of hay, some rose petals. |
Rooster's - YPA (Yorkshire Pale Ale) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Marble - Bitter | 3.90 | Not Tried
Marble - Lagonda IPA | 5.00 | Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Hark | 4.80 | Not Tried
Bristol Beer Factory - Stout | 4.00 | Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Raven | 6.60 | Not Tried
Rooster's - Organic Blosum | 3.90 | Not Tried

Busy on Saturday night even at 22.30 with beer drinkers and train travellers from Euston.
Marble - JP Best | 4.30 | | Typical Marble hoppy really drinkable bitter. Even at the end of a long day, this stood out as a good quaffing session pint. |
15 Jan 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Just two people in early doors on a Saturday lunchtime, but got busier as I was leaving.
Bristol Beer Factory - Bristol Ultimate Stout | 7.30 | | Very strong tasting black stout with a real alcholic kick. Quite roasty with a full bodied vineous taste. My score 16/20. |
Riverhead - Marsden Merrymaker | 6.50 | | Amber beer with a predominantly sweet taste, lots of malt and an almost sticky texture. Strong fruity, vineous finish. My score 16/20. |
26 Nov 2010 (Ian)
On my way to somewhere so stopped for my favourite the Bernard unfiltered lager. And for a couple of other beers before catching my train
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Alliance | 10.30 | | Raisins and sultanas. Touch of butter. Smooth as hell. Bit of a warming kick but not syrupy. Beautiful beer. |
Bristol Beer Factory - Stout | 4.00 | | Black with dark brown edges. Thick cream head. Lovelychoccy stout. Great body and the roast choc is lovely. Just a touch of cardboard on the flavour. Good though. More than good. |
