Looking forward to a refreshing pint after a walk on the Wye Downs Garden fairly busy when we arrived in the late afternoon

It's the summer, it's hot, it must be time for the Tickled Trout. Certainly this was my view 17 years ago. Still the same old Trout with it's great river side garden. However, given the fact I wasn't convinced the beer would actually taste good I had lager, which was awful. Don't know how lager can actually be off but it was.

Very attractive pub in the beautiful village of Wye. The garden slopes down to the River Stour and is very busy in the summer. The building itself is a typical white clapboard Kent building with a russet colour peg and tile roof. Inside there are lots of original exposed beams and several areas to eat and drink. There is a real fire too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%)3.40AcceptableThis is a perfectly acceptable bitter, just not very exciting. Looks fine, tastes fine (some hop, some caramel, some bitterness on the finish) and is drinkable without being tremendously interesting.
Greene King - Abbot5.00PoorDid not have its usual malty flavours
Hopdaemon - Incubus4.00Not TriedTried Martin and Andrew's pints, but did not live up to my memories of this beer
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30Not TriedHad a sip of Andrew's. OK, but not at its best. At least the Greene King IPA was as good as it should have been, so I stayed with that rather than drink below par Landlord or Incubus

Christmas comes early at the Trout and with that much tinsel it's sometimes easy to forget it's only November. Anyway we sat in the same place we used to 15 years ago and didn't drink Fremlins as it no longer exists.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Incubus4.00AcceptableBit of a harsh bite to what's usually an excellent beer
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%)3.40AcceptableIan said he could drink this all night. Umm. It was okay but nothing to write home about
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30AcceptableUnremarkable to the point I can't actually remember having it.

Fairly busy with a youngish crowd. The decor is a deep red with fleur de lis like embeleshments. For a number of years this was my local pub and I drank many a pint of Fremlins here (RIP).
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50AcceptableThis always has a soapy creaminess about it that I find somewhat off-putting but the hops and low level malt was good.
