I spotted this place whilst having a pint in the nearby Bumble Inn and decided to pop inside. The pub reopened earlier this year after a long period of closure. I had a good chat with the manager and enjoyed a most informative visit. As there was not cask ale available I sampled some Sam Smith's Stout.

Evening visit. Ale at £1.90pp obviously a draw for the locals in the left hand bar.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | A bit too chilled |

Evening. £1.88 pp must make this one of the cheapest pints in the UK.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | Rather bland |

Very attractive pub from the outside and a rather pleasant interior. However, pub is brought down by unfriendly barman and the fact it's full of alcoholics who are only there because the beers cheap. I probably wouldn't come back in here.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | Yup, fairly ok. Malty and creamy. Not bad. |

Good atmosphere and a decent cheap burger too, easy to see why this place won an award for the conversion.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | Not great but I will go back so it must be acceptable |

Lateish on a Wednesday evening. Some locals in playing chess or chatting at the bar. I really liked the bar lady. Very chatty and happy to help. Sat at the bar and had a bottle of Nut Brown Ale and had a bottle of the cherry beer to take away and drink in my hotel.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | A hell of a lot better than the pint I had in the Cittie of Yorke but still not a whole lot of flavour, some spritzy hop finish, but overall still a sub standard bitter. No off flavours, just not a very good bitter, no matter if it was 77p for a half. |
