Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Copper Dragon - Golden Pippin | 3.90 | Some hints of flavour but only hints. | |
Acorn - Blonde | 4.00 | This beer was in good condition but, surprisingly for Acorn, was lacking in both body and flavour. Too easy drinking by half. | |

Daleside - Bitter | 3.60 | Not Tried | |
Heineken - John Smith's Bitter (a.k.a. Cask and Original) | 3.80 | Not Tried |
Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Woodforde's - Wherry | 3.80 | Again far too cold. Floral, citrussy notes and good balance noted when it warmed up. | |
Rooster's - Hoppy Christmas | 4.00 | Served far too cold but even when warmed up had little of interest. A golden ale with few hops and not much body. |

The pub is found in Sowerby (Nr. Thirsk), North Yorkshire, YO7 1JN.
Recently refurbished village pub and strong supporter of SIBA's direct delivery scheme. Five hand pumps with one Rooster's beer, John Smith's and three 'micro' guests. Good food available in this friendly 'locals' pub.
We have visited this pub twice, seen 7 different beers and tried 4 of them.
