23:30. I finally arrive at my "basecamp", my home for the next 7 nights! Not stayed here since Oct 2008 having been a regular on stopovers here for five years. Much has changed since those heady days. The pub has gone up & down on the ale front I've heard, and it was sad to hear that long standing landlord, Terry, passed away earlier this year. But I think the place has now slowly been improved, with the loss of the kitchen area to create another lounge, and the decor is well up to date, much more trendy, and the property next door is also part of the plan to create more letting rooms and a restaurant I hear. The current letting rooms here are all under refurbishment at this time and slowly but surely, the place will be modernised. Good to be back. A real old friend! Current 2013 gbg entry and 16 times previous in; 1995-7/9/2001-12
