Evening visit until 11pm close, a visit planned to try the Stingo. So I can recall this visit in years to come I shall prompt myself by saying Mr Asbestos.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Samuel Smith's - Yorkshire Stingo8.00GoodAn intriguing draught barley wine finish. One to sip and mull over, ideally by a wood log fire which the front room here provided
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00Not Tried

Lunchtime visit, I sat in the small bar at the front which was quiet (apart from the racket from the sandwich bar on the other side of the alley) and enjoyed a couple of pints. The cellar cooling equipment had failed which meant that that the O.B.B. was at a nice temperature whilst the other lines were fobbing. The restaurant and other bars appeared busy.

Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00ExcellentA good pint of Sam's.

Lunchtime and not all the bars are open. I took up my position in the corridor.

Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00AcceptableI don't think this creamy Bitter will ever tickle my fancy.

Evening visit until 11pm close. Once again all bar staff were welcoming and chatty. Roasted my butt next to the welcome real fire.

Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00ExcellentA beer I know that is not to everyone's taste but, after all, what is?? I could find no fault with the condition here

Evening visit until 11pm close. Unlike many tourist traps, the bar staff were engaging in conversation.

Evening until 11pm close. Not quite so atmospheric in the front bar as on a cold winter's night with the fire crackling but hey ho a snip of a price for such a venue anytime. Conversational barmaid.

Timeless pub that is always a pleasure to visit. No room in the Tap Room, so I sat in the corridor and was served through a hatch from the bar – I can’t think of another central London pub where you can still do that. Still £2:90 a pint in here – very cheap for the area.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00GoodThis beer is so variable (but that is part of the joy of wooden casks). Tonight’s is creamy, woody and has hints of vanilla – I wish it was always like this.

Amazingly, few in our group had been in here before and it was an eye-opener for some. At 10pm, quiet enough for us all to squeeze into the front bar. I think it would be fair to say that you come here for the atmosphere rather than the beer. Disappointed to find that the more-interesting Sam Smith’s bottled beers weigh in at around £6 a pint.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00AcceptableIn superb condition here, but it is a rather mundane pint.

12:30 Had the right hand room to ourselves. Roaring fire. Very atmospheric.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00AcceptableA lacklustre beer.

Evening near to closing time. The front small bar was just being swept of its tourist attraction sawdust for another day. Sam's at £2.90 pp.

Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00ExcellentVery smooth to the bottom of the glass

The pub is found in Fleet Street, Central London, EC4A 2BU.

Located in a little side alley, Wine Office Court, on the north side of Fleet Street. A 1667 pub with multiple, multi-level rooms. Upon entering from the alley turn immediately right for the most enchanting part of the pub - the little front tap room which perhaps Dr Johnson once frequented and has three handpumps and a roaring fire in winter.

We have visited this pub 12 times, seen 2 different beers and tried both.
