Mid afternoon. CAMRA heritage pub - impressive decor and the bar staff opened up the close first floor bar for me to take a look. Not so impressive - but very good views into the narrow Soho streets.

I don’t visit Soho much anymore and agree with all those who regret the decline in the character of this area. Good to know however that the Dog & Duck continues unchanged – although once again I cannot see Madonna anywhere on the premises.

Busy outside, but less crowded inside and I was pleased to find room to sit in the back snug.

Unscheduled visit whilst the worst of the midday rain passes through. A nice place to linger over a leisurely pint on a quiet Sunday lunchtime, as it happens.

No sign of Madonna tonight, but presumably she is staying away given the lack of Landlord. No shortage of other customers though.

Second time I've been here and I really rather like it. No Tim Taylor's Landlord on this time which was shame, but this pub has a really good feel. Very small and tight, but it has that certain something

Really nice pub in the heart of the fashionable bit of Soho. The upstairs bar is a wonderful place just to sit with a pint and enjoy watching the people on the streets. The decor is also excellent
BeerABVScoreNotes

The pub is found in Soho, Central London, W1D 3AJ.

Used to be Madonna's favourite pub in London, or so the story goes, due to the fact that it once always had Tim Taylor's Landlord on. Very nicely furnished with both a ground floor and upstairs no smoking "George Orwell" bar. Very pleasant pub just south of Soho Square and definitely worth a visit. Many famous historical figures have enjoyed the hospitality of The Dog and Duck, including John Constable, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and George Orwell. The pub was originally built in 1734 on the site of the Duke of Monmouth's home. The present building was built in 1897, and is considered to have one of London's most exquisite interiors of the period, characterised by thousands of highly glazed tiles. The Taylor Landlord is no longer a regular here.

We have visited this pub 9 times, seen 34 different beers and tried 8 of them.
