I opened the door an instantly liked this pub. Homely, airy, relaxed and mellow.

15:30 Just me and my mate. The owner was about and we had a chat with him. The roadworks outside the pub to make the roundabout cycle friendly are booked to last 25 weeks and the pub is feeling the effects on trade.

19:40 Meal stop. Busy. Large group came in and sat near us. One of their party was a screecher who seemed to find everything amusing. My ears took some time to recover.

I’ve been in here a few times before and always liked the pub. Today’s visit a bit hurried as we neared our 8pm train departure time.
