Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

BlairPoor12 Jun 2011 I thought I liked this beer but on this occasion it wasn't great. A little tangy and tasted on the verge of being off.
BlairExcellent28 Feb 2009 I was really impressed with this. A traditional bitter flavour, very well rounded. Quite malty and nutty with a bit of citrus and caramel. Yup, it's good.

BlairGood22 Nov 2008 Malty and sweet. I liked this, it was a little cold though.

The Butchers Arms, Herne, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
MickGood29 Jul 2008 copper/Red colour with a clear white head. Malty with just enough hop to give a balance but still slightly sweet. Nice

The Yew Tree Inn, Barfrestone, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
AndrewGood23 Apr 2006 A dark caramel brown colour with a very stong taste of toasted sugar (toasted within an inch of being burnt). Had a short lived bitter finish but even that was overpowered by the toasted sugar

Kent Beer Festival 2005, Canterbury, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
IanPoor22 Jul 2005 Been waiting to have this for ages cos I think it has the best name of any beer in England. Disappointed though. Ruby colour malty fruity nose, alcohol sweet taste, bit odd
