The pub is found in Newhaven, East Sussex, BN9 9PH.
A long 4 sectioned pub in Bridge Street with a games room and TV at the end. The décor is as you'd probably expect from a town centre pub. An historic pub once the home of Thomas Tipper, whose home brewed ales were frequently imbibed by the Prince Regent and are mentioned in Charles Dickens. The pub also gave shelter to King Louis Phillippe when he fled France following the 1848 revolution. Acquired by Harvey's Brewery of Lewes in Autumn 2013 and closed for upgrade works with long periods of inactivity. Latest talk is of re-opening in perhaps mid-2020 with a restaurant food profile. Eventually opened in 2024.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
