09 Mar 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Just a flying visit on my way to Leicster Beer Festival.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Redemption - Trinity3.00ExcellentBilled as a pale mild, certainly mild in strength, but not in taste with a huge grapefruity citrus hop flavour. There is a good malt base and little bitterness in the flavour so mild it is. My score 16/20.
Adnams - Mild3.20ExcellentA smoother, sweeter and more rounded sample here, more as I remember it. Served on gravity. My score 16/20.

A very busy first lunchtime session. I got there about 11.50 and the queue went round the block into Euston Road. I have only listed the beers I had.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Porter5.40ExcellentSweetish, creamy and tasted strong.
Redemption - Pale Ale3.80ExcellentA good session beer but not as hoppy as the notes would suggest.
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Citra3.10ExcellentA golden beer that was citrussy hoppy.
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Amarilla4.20ExcellentVery citrussy.
Camden Town - Camden Pale Ale4.50ExcellentA good pale ale.
Toad - The Da Vinci Toad5.50ExcellentDecent flavour for a stronger bitter.
Redemption - Hopspur4.50ExcellentNot as much "nose" as the Trinity but more hoppy in the taste.
BrewDog - Alpha Dog (Low strength)3.80ExcellentSurprisingly I agreed with some of the programme description. A thick foamy head even on gravity dispense.
Redemption - Trinity3.00ExcellentDescribed as a 3 hop, 3 malt at 3% beer for the festival. Before drinking the glass smelt like walking into an oast house and it was wonderfully hoppy.
Bristol Beer Factory - Milk Stout4.50ExcellentSweetish and creamy.
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Brain Wave3.10GoodA special charity brew that was 2.9%. I thought it a bit sweet and nothingy.
Windsor & Eton - Knight of the Garter3.80GoodPretty average.
BlackFriars - Whyte Angel4.50GoodA typical English wheat beer. Lacking that something that the German weisse have.
