I was very pleasantly surprised with this pub, a good selection of beers, a very enthusiastic lady behind the bar and a good pub atmosphere.

Probably the best Bass that I have had for some time.
Gates Burton - Burton Ale

Based on the original DBA recipe, the lady behind the bar was interested to know how well I thought it matched the original Ind Coope Draught Burton Ale, I had to admit that I would not have recognised it on a blind tasting, but a very good ale anyway.

I stood at the bar in here (not my usual custom) to enjoy a chat with two of the folk who had been with me at Marston’s all day and with the barmaid.

Evening. Last port of call tonight. Had received good reports of beer quality here. 5th pub on a mini-crawl and every beer in every house was excellent.

This is much better than last time. Distinctive tastes present with strong flavours, almost metallic, on the back of the palette. Just a hint of the original nose. Almost 5 star

Oh dear. So looked forward to, but such a let down; where were the the DBA tastes? Maybe my palette was blunted due to having a few at the beer festival but this was bland and insipid; will try again but tres disappointing.
The pub is found in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 1BT.
Fairly basic town pub in Station Street and so near the railway station, which was effectively the Ind Coope Brewery tap at one time. Draught Burton Ale was launched here in 1976. The interior comprises a fairly smart, long narrow single room with dark wood panelling and the bar counter down one side. 8 handpumps. Comparatively recently has become much renowned for the quality of its ales. 3 letting rooms.
We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 7 different beers and tried 5 of them.
