I was very pleasantly surprised with this pub, a good selection of beers, a very enthusiastic lady behind the bar and a good pub atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Bass4.40ExcellentProbably the best Bass that I have had for some time.
Gates Burton - Burton Ale4.80GoodBased on the original DBA recipe, the lady behind the bar was interested to know how well I thought it matched the original Ind Coope Draught Burton Ale, I had to admit that I would not have recognised it on a blind tasting, but a very good ale anyway.

I stood at the bar in here (not my usual custom) to enjoy a chat with two of the folk who had been with me at Marston’s all day and with the barmaid.

Evening. Last port of call tonight. Had received good reports of beer quality here. 5th pub on a mini-crawl and every beer in every house was excellent.

JW Lees (see also Lees) - Ind Coope Draught Burton Ale4.80ExcellentThis is much better than last time. Distinctive tastes present with strong flavours, almost metallic, on the back of the palette. Just a hint of the original nose. Almost 5 star

Unscheduled visit; looked in and Amazed to see DBA (Draught Burton Ale - Ind Coope) on draught; used to be on at the weekend 1 barrel until it run out but they couldn't source when the brewer changed but now back on regularly; great news
BeerABVScoreNotes
JW Lees (see also Lees) - Ind Coope Draught Burton Ale4.80PoorOh dear. So looked forward to, but such a let down; where were the the DBA tastes? Maybe my palette was blunted due to having a few at the beer festival but this was bland and insipid; will try again but tres disappointing.
