The Will Adams (Free House)
Visits Details
20 Dec 2025 (Andrew)
Pub number four on the tour. We'd been told by the locals in the Past & Present that this wasn't likely to be open yet, but it was. Jolly good. We were first in so had the place to ourselves. The landlord and Ian spent a lot of time talking about Oakham's beers, and about Will Adams. I liked the place.
| Oakham - Sanctum Gold | 4.20 | | Golden. Hint of mustard, hint of golden syrup. |

1330. Having visited the nearby Dockyard for an event, I walked up here for a first visit and caught it open for once. A good old fashioned back street local. Quite untouched inside. Guvnor' is a big Gill's fan and friendly enough. Three decent ales on too.
| Salopian - Shropshire Gold | 3.80 | | Very refreshing. |
| Skinner's (now brewed by Goodh) - Betty Stogs Bitter | 4.00 | | On good form. |
| Elgood's - Double Swan | 4.50 | | Nice, with that unique Elgoods pale, hoppy taste. |

My first ever visit to this pub so I did not know what to expect. I was pleased to see that there was a proper Kent Doubles darts board in use, (who needs trebles?) I enjoyed a couple of pints and a bockwurst hot dog with onions.
| Adnams - American Style IPA | 4.80 | | It is nice to see Adnams producing some interesting beers. Citrus hop character, but not as hoppy as some American style IPAs that I have tried. A very enjoyable pint though. |
| Adnams - Mild | 3.20 | | A good traditional mild that has re-appeared after a gap of about ten years. Welcome back. |
| Banks & Taylor's (B&T) - Mad Hatter | 4.20 | Not Tried | This ran out before I could try it. |
| Wold Top - Spring Fling | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
