Left The Greyhound about 1pm-ish for The Wheatsheaf some two and half hours later via a constant run of footpaths, through many a kissing gate and lastly over a number of stiles and a little detour to spectate the Bough Beech Reservoir and the distant sailing dinghies upon it. A suitably dry and sunny but not too hot walk. Ready for a sit down inside this very ancient barn of a pub from Tudor times and said to be frequented by Henry VIII. Also said to be now owned by one of the directors of Westerham Brewery and so not surprisingly, a Westerham ale or two on! A warm welcome and prompt service at the bar facing you as you come in. Many were outside seated in the surrounding garden. Nice to catch up with humankind again having not seen a soul for the entire 2.5 hours walk. The odd pheasant and baby deer did though keep me entertained on route alongside my faithful hound.

Larkins - Traditional3.40ExcellentPresented with superb head and lacing and lasted to the end. A dry hoppy first hit on this session bitter from Larkins Brewery at Chiddingstone and just a few miles away and made with their own Larkins' hops, malt and yeast. A pleasant hint of malt in the moreishly hoppy mouthfeel persisted. The Larkins' on-site farm grows three traditional Kentish hop varieties of Goldings, Bramling Cross and Whitbread Goldings. It quenched my thirst admirably!
Westerham - Summer Perle3.80GoodWonderfully frothy and exuding superb lacing with my every sip of it. An orange citrus fruit-infused hoppy first hit on this Westerham XPA. A touch of marmalade-sweetness and a hoppy dryness coming to the fore in the mouthfeel and lasting. Brewed with English Pale Ale malt and Kent First Gold and Yakima Valley Cascade hops, it is only available in British Summer Time and so timed this just right!

Pub 7 in the Larkin's tour. We sat inside by the inglenook fire place. The pub reminded me of the Plantation in Bersted. I liked it. A lady walked in with a dog, called Dog.
