A presentation night for two 2013 CAMRA awards. The Eleanor is the East London & City Branch ‘Community Pub of the Year’ and also joint winner of the ‘East London Pub of the Year’ (an award shared with the Pride of Spitalfields, E1). A good crowd in for the occasion.

Late-evening visit with a CAMRA group. We are around 16-strong and more than double the number of people in the pub. A nice, cosy, friendly atmosphere.

Oakham - Inferno4.00GoodA very pale beer. Sharp and well-hopped.

My first visit here, and I was impressed. I had to ask directions on my way, and was told "he only wants yuppies in there" fortunately this advice was wrong. I had a good chat with the landlord about Shepherd Neame beers, and the recently opened Westfield shopping centre at Stratford.

A delightful, two-roomed, wood-panelled pub. A former Watney house that also has dim and distant connections with the Fuller's Brewery of Chiswick. It was established by 1879 in the former ‘Eleanor Cottage’ and rebuilt in the first half of the twentieth century. Acquired by Shepherd Neame in 1989. The Eleanor Arms was the joint winner of the 2013 CAMRA East London Pub of the Year and SPBW London Pub of the Year 2014.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 7 different beers and tried 5 of them.
