02 May 2017 (Magnus Greel)
Mid afternoon visit. We sat in the lower bar area. I did not feel like I was in Hackney more like a Cornish coastal pub.

More research tonight for my Pig’s Ear Beer Festival programme pubcrawl. No shortage of custom here on a Thursday evening.

A late-afternoon / early evening visit and the pub is quiet. Horrid weather outside and puddles are creeping right across the road in places.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Green Jack - Red Herring5.00AcceptableReddish-brown in colour and a bit cloudy. This beer features smoked malt, although there is more smokiness in the smell than in the taste, which is sweetish. A bit disappointing. But this pint not in the greatest condition.

Late afternoon visit. Rather quiet, but pub itself makes up for that with interesting interior.

Fairly quiet in the early evening and there is a choice of tables in the front bar. People starting to arrive for dinner though by the time I leave.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Crouch Vale - Palisade3.90ExcellentAnother pale, single hop beer from crouch vale. Palisade gives a good hoppy aroma and a bitter taste, with some citrusy flavours too. Backed by a decent malt body.

A couple of us met up here for a quick pint before going to London Fields Brewery for a brewery tour. Hot and sticky, inside and outside.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Blue Monkey - Funky Gibbon (previously called Sanctuary)4.10GoodA brown bitter with some very nice, but not overpowering, hops to make a classy session bitter. “A beer for everybody” said one of my friends.

A fairly brief, early evening visit. Pub not too busy and most people sat outside enjoying the freak weather. The conversation at the next table concerned the optimum time in the cooking process to decapitate a langoustine – that tells you quite a bit about the clientele of this pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold4.00ExcellentLight and hoppy excellence.
