Evening. One barman taking a number of meal orders then he just walked off and left the bar unattended so after 7 minutes of invisibility I turned tail. Probably no bad thing as the beer range was dire with the interesting options wearing the Spoon's speciality combined chocolate fireguard / teapot "Available soon" signage.

The pub is found in Stroud, Gloucestershire, GL5 3AB.

Russell Street (in which the pub is sited) and nearby John Street are both named after Lord John Russell, who is also remembered in the name of this Wetherspoon pub. Lord Russell was MP for Stroud and also the architect of the Great Reform Act of 1832. The pub was previously Stroud's main post office. The main Post Office is now located next door. A thriving pub throughout the day which must be partly due to the usual Wetherspoon pricing policy in a town of otherwise seemingly high pub prices. Usual long narrow bar area with basement toilets. 12 handpumps in total and 2 of these usually dispense cider.

We have visited this pub 11 times, seen 36 different beers and tried 10 of them.
